Pear variety Extravaganza

Winter varieties of pears have excellent keeping quality, for which they are highly valued in the cold season, when the body needs live vitamins so much. The extravaganza belongs to the winter varieties, which in 2004 was received by scientists from the Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Fruit Plants named after I.V. Michurin. The parental forms were Talgar beauty and the Daughter of Dawn. The authorship belongs to a group of scientists - S.P. Yakovlev, N.I. Savelyev, V.V. Chivilev. Since 2006, the novelty has been included in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation. The admission region is Central Black Earth (Belgorod, Oryol, Lipetsk, Tambov, Kursk, Voronezh regions). According to some reports, the variety is successfully grown in cooler regions - in the Perm, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk and Omsk regions.

Variety characteristics

  • The extravaganza begins at the time of fruiting 5 - 6 years after planting;
  • the optimal time for harvesting fruits, the so-called ripeness, occurs in the first ten days of September. In cool regions, the harvest is harvested a little later - in the second half of the month. In a refrigerated fruit storage, the duration of the consumer period ranges from 4 months to six months;

  • according to the members of the forum, it is especially difficult to correctly determine the time of harvesting. It is not always possible to correctly capture the moment when the fruit is in the right ripeness stage. Although the fruits are not prone to shedding, it is not recommended to overexpose them on the branches - this negatively affects the keeping quality;
  • The extravaganza is highly resistant to the main diseases - scab, spotting, powdery mildew, rust;
  • The pear is almost not damaged by pests (gall mites, honeydew, moth, aphids);
  • the plant tolerates abiotic factors well during the growing season - temperature drops, high humidity, strong wind;
  • according to reviews, the yield of the variety is high and regular. In the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation, the average indicator is 144 c / ha;
  • fruit transportability is good;
  • the way of eating fruits is universal - pears are most valuable in their natural form, they can also be processed into jam, jam, jam and compote.

Planting and leaving

Extravaganza is planted in spring or autumn. For planting, it is better to use one- or two-year-old seedlings. The culture is not picky about soils. The groundwater level should be no closer than 1.5 meters to the surface. The best way to reproduce is vaccination. Quince and wild pear seedlings are most often used as a stock.

Watering is done moderately. Top dressing is used universal, they can be alternated with organic. Despite the resistance to diseases and pests, it is necessary to carry out preventive spraying. After the formation of the crown, thinning pruning is imperative, since with strong thickening, the fruits become smaller.

Extravaganza is considered the most successful hybrid obtained from crossing the Talgar beauty and the Daughter of Dawn. The variety is valued for its stable and good yield, due to its small size, it is excellent for a small garden area. Unpretentiousness and resistance to various natural factors allows you to grow this pear even in regions with unfavorable conditions for culture. A small disadvantage is the impossibility of accurately determining the moment of harvesting, since in different regions, due to the peculiarities of the climate, this process takes place at different periods.
