Approved for cultivation in the Central region of the country (Tula, Ryazan, Kaluga, Vladimir, Bryansk, Ivanovo, Moscow, Smolensk regions). Differs in excellent presentation and rather large size of tubers, high yield and good adaptation to any soil and climate. Suitable for mechanical cleaning. Resistant to many diseases.
The period from full germination to harvest is 65-80 days, depending on the growing region.
The plant is of medium height, stem type, semi-erect, moderately spreading. The leaves are large, intermediate or open, light green in color. The corolla of potatoes is small or medium, the intensity of anthocyanin coloration on its inner side is extremely weak or absent. The flowers are white. Moderate flowering.
Wendy's root system is quite well developed, in one nest 7-12 uniform, uniform tubers are formed. Marketable potatoes weigh 92-120 grams. The tubers are oval. The peel has a smooth-mesh structure, yellow in color. The cut flesh is yellow in color. The eyes are small, shallow.
The marketable yield of the variety, according to the results of state tests in Russia, averages 175−328 c / ha, which is at the level of indicators Nevsky... The largest amount was obtained in the Tula region - 380 c / ha were harvested per hectare of planting area, 159 c / ha more than Nevsky standards. According to some reports, the yield can reach up to 600 c / ha (the result was recorded in Tatarstan). Marketability 79−94%. Keeping quality is 95%.
The taste is very good. Wendy is a culinary type B (EAPR - European Association for Potato Research). The tubers are poorly boiled, they do not lose their pleasant color during heat treatment and cutting. They are versatile in cooking, suitable for preparing absolutely any dishes, best suited for frying, boiling, stuffing, baking, and also perfectly complement soups, vegetable mixes and salads. The pulp has a rather dense structure, the starch content in it is noted in the range of 14.3-15%.
The variety perfectly adapts to any type of soil and climate, but shows the best yield on loose fertile soils in regions with mild weather conditions. In agricultural technology, plants are simple, but there are several nuances that affect the yield.
- Tubers have a pronounced dormancy period (due to which, by the way, they are perfectly stored for more than a year), therefore, they must be germinated before planting. Be careful when planting sprouted seed - breaking off the sprouts will clearly not do the potatoes any good. Also, experts recommend processing the planting material with growth stimulants. The complex of these techniques will improve germination and shorten the ripening time.
- Wendy is responsive to standard agronomic measures, including hilling, weeding, loosening, preventive treatments, watering, and especially top dressing. On soils rich in nutrient and mineral composition, the yield increases significantly, and the yield of marketable products also increases.
- Do not neglect the observance of crop rotation on the site. The best predecessors will be legumes, onions, cucumbers, garlic, cabbage, green manure, and beets.
Potatoes are resistant to black leg, golden cyst nematode, cancer, virus Y, common scab, rhizoctonia, glandular spot. It has a high resistance to late blight in tubers, in terms of tops - from medium to high.
The variety is suitable both for cultivation for personal consumption and for sale.
