Fireworks - a variety of garden strawberries (strawberries) of medium ripening, universal purpose. Bred by employees of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Federal Scientific Center named after IV Michurin". Since 1991, the variety began to undergo state tests, and in 2000 it was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. Approved for cultivation in four regions of Russia: Volgo-Vyatka, North Caucasian, East Siberian, Central black earth.

The plant is powerful, erect, average foliage. Bushes are spherical. Whiskers of medium length, green in color, are formed in medium quantities. The leaves are flat, dark green in color with a glossy sheen. The middle blade of the leaf plate is ovoid. The flowers of the variety are bisexual, large, untwisted, white in color. Peduncles are medium, located below the level of the leaves, under the weight of the berries they are laid on the ground. The peduncles are thick, brittle.

Strawberry berries are quite large, regular cone-shaped, with a short neck, slightly flattened. The calyx is large and complex. The skin is dark red, shiny. At the stage of full ripeness, the berries acquire a maroon color. Achenes are light yellow, immersed in the pulp to a medium depth. The pulp is dark red, rather dense, fragrant. The taste of Fireworks berries is sour-sweet, the tasting score is 4.8 points. The variety has one feature - the berries gain the best palette of taste only when fully ripe; up to this point, the fruits may seem absolutely tasteless or too sour. The pulp contains: 7.3% sugar, 1.2% acids, 77 mg% vitamin C.

Strawberries tolerate transportation very well, after picking they do not lose their beautiful appearance, remain dry and beautiful. They are also very well stored, they can lie for about 3 days not in the refrigerator, while they will not lose their great taste. In use, they are universal, good both fresh and canned.

The average weight of berries in the season is 13 grams, but often their weight is more, especially at the first harvest, can reach up to 30 grams. The average yield of Fireworks, according to the results of state tests, was recorded at around 160.2 c / ha. This is really a very good indicator, twice as many results Vima Zanta and at the level of the declared characteristics of the popular Honey... Unfortunately, the variety has not yet gained wide popularity, although it can adequately compete with the generally accepted favorites of the strawberry market, especially in Russia.

The variety is mid-season, the beginning of ripening occurs around mid-June, maybe later, depending on the climatic conditions of the region. Fruiting in our hero is quite extended, at the same time stable - the berries are only slightly shallower by the end of the season, in the first few harvests they are rather uniform and even in size and weight. Fireworks also has one drawback that makes it not particularly attractive for commercial cultivation. As already mentioned, the best taste of berries is manifested only when they are fully ripe, moreover, ripening is rather uncomfortable. Thus, in order not to disappoint the buyer, the fruits for sale need to be collected very painstakingly, and therefore the collection time is stretched. And supplying sour or tasteless strawberries to the market will obviously not work for a long time.

The variety is very unpretentious in care and undemanding to the soil. It is also resistant to various diseases, especially fungal, is not affected by the strawberry mite, has good winter hardiness, but shelter is highly desirable.Our hero is perfectly adapted to the difficult conditions of some regions of Russia, and is able to show excellent results, while foreign varieties often cannot adapt and do not justify their declared characteristics. In addition, Fireworks does not require abundant "feeding" and scrupulous attitude towards itself, while consistently giving good yields. The only point - do not neglect the timely rejuvenation of the strawberry plantation. It is worth holding this event every 3-4 years of use.
