Strawberry variety Maryshka
Maryshka is a mid-early non-repairable variety of garden strawberries (strawberries), bred by Czech breeders. It is valued for its excellent taste, resistance to diseases, unpretentious care and undemanding to soils, as well as the ability to endure various weather adversities. Due to its good winter hardiness and drought resistance, strawberries can be successfully grown in the most diverse regions of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and many other countries. Basically, Maryshka lives only on personal household plots, since in terms of yield it is noticeably inferior to the popular favorites of the strawberry market, however, gardeners admit that excellent taste more than compensates for this nuance.
The plant is medium-sized, at the same time very powerful and rather spreading, but in general it looks compact. The variety has a well-developed branched root system, which helps it to successfully resist pests and diseases, as well as drought. Strawberries tend to form a lot of whiskers. The foliage of the bush is medium, the leaves themselves are medium in size, light green in color, slightly corrugated, with sharp teeth at the edges. The flowers are bisexual. Sometimes fasciation can be observed - several flowers can grow together, and as a result, a bizarre large berry is formed. This phenomenon is quite rare and not as noticeable as, for example, in Mashenki... Maryshka's peduncles are tall, long, thin, but rather strong, however, under the weight of the berries they are laid on the ground. Quite a lot of fruits are observed on one peduncle. An adult bush can form up to 20 multi-flowered peduncles, so more than 50 berries can be harvested from one plant!
The fruits of this variety are distinguished by a very unusual shape - they are flat-conical, elongated, sometimes there are specimens of an almost rectangular flat shape. The skin is claret-red, maroon when fully ripe. Achenes are yellow-green in color, superficial, most of them are located at the tip of the berry, which is why, even when fully ripe, the fruit may have a greenish tip. The pulp is firm, but not firm, very juicy, rich, with a wonderful fragrant aroma, reminiscent of wild strawberries. Maryshka's taste is simply wonderful! Very sweet, truly strawberry, very bright and memorable. No wonder gardeners cannot give up this strawberry in favor of other popular commercial varieties - very tasty!
The berries are versatile in use, especially great fresh, perfect for making jams, jams, suitable for whole-fruit canning, and are also great for freezing. Due to the dense pulp, the fruits tolerate transportation well, and are also suitable for short-term storage. By the way, picking strawberries is a pleasure - the berries are easily separated from the stalk, while the sepal does not come off, and the fruit itself remains dry and very neat. In a word, Maryshka can rightfully be called attractive for growing in order to sell fresh products to the market. However, the competition between varieties is very strong, and our heroine today can no longer withstand it.
The berries of this strawberry are quite large, but not gigantic. The average weight of fruits in the season is about 20-25 grams; during the first harvest, specimens weighing more than 50 grams can be observed. Fruiting in the variety is very stable, besides, ripening occurs amicably, the plant quickly gives up the entire crop. Maryshka cannot be attributed to high-yielding, but her indicators are very much even nothing - about 500 grams of berries can be harvested from one bush, and with good intensive care, the amount can increase to 1 kg per plant and even a little more. And, unlike many popular commercial varieties, our heroine does not require the creation of ideal conditions and excessive feeding, therefore, it is quite possible to achieve results of 1 kg per bush in very simple, so to speak, old-fashioned ways. You just need to pay a little more attention to your plantings, but we will talk about agricultural technology a little later.
Strawberries have excellent immunity, are very rarely affected by various diseases and pests, even in the most unfavorable seasons they keep confidently against the background of other varieties. According to gardeners, Maryshka feels great, even if you completely forget about her. By the way, modern commercial varieties will not forgive such an attitude towards themselves. In addition to being invulnerable to disease, our heroine can boast of resistance to a wide variety of weather disasters. It is very winter-hardy, even in snowless winters, it feels very good, it can grow successfully in regions with a very cold climate. Still, it's worth saying that shelter is never superfluous. Frost resistance in strawberries is also at a high level, with fairly early periods of flowering, freezing of flowers is practically not observed.
Maryshka is extremely drought-resistant, in the hottest seasons it can please you with sweet berries. The fruits are not baked in the sun, and the plant itself, thanks to its powerful root system, does not fade even during hellishly hot periods under strong sunshine. However, with insufficient moisture, the yield and size of the fruits decrease, so it is still worth providing the plants with regular watering. By the way, since the sweetness of strawberries increases during dry periods, gardeners practice one trick: about a week before harvesting, they stop watering the plantings. The variety also tolerates rainy seasons very persistently without deteriorating the taste of the fruit. Of course, during such periods it is better to pay special attention to the prevention of fungal diseases, but it is worth saying that the immunity of our heroine is quite enough to resist diseases, so it is quite possible to do without chemicals.
In agricultural technology, strawberries are very simple, they do not require any special care, but they will respond to all your efforts with a more abundant harvest. Here are a few key points to watch out for. Firstly, it is worth providing the plants with regular watering, since this technique has a significant effect on the size of the fruits and, logically, on the yield of Maryshka. Secondly, it is necessary to monitor the number of whiskers, since the variety forms quite a few of them, and this can significantly reduce the volume of the crop. Thirdly, do not neglect the timely rejuvenation of the plantation, this also plays a big role in the possible productivity of plants. In general, strawberries can be used for quite a long time, more than five years, but the yield will gradually decline after the 4th year of cultivation, so it is still better to update the planting material. In addition, problems with reproduction will not arise, due to abundant reproduction.
What I would like to say at the end. Maryshka is a really noteworthy variety that has received a large number of positive reviews. First of all, it is appreciated for its excellent taste, extraordinary and really outstanding. In addition, our heroine has plenty of other merits, so it's clearly worth having her on your site. As for the shortcomings, they are very relative: average yield and medium-sized berries. Of course, nowadays we are no longer surprised by the varieties with huge yield potential and giant fruits. But the quantity is not always accompanied by high quality, so you should not look only towards the favorites of the strawberry market.Of course, it is possible to find a more productive analogue of Maryshka, but she is really very good, which is confirmed by the admiring reviews of gardeners.
