Cucumber variety Dirigent (F1)
Early fruiting and versatile crop utilization are highly prized among cucumber varieties. The German company Rijk Zwaan Welver GmbН, specializing in the sale of seeds, has offered vegetable growers a new hybrid - the Dirigent, which meets these qualities. The application for registration of the novelty was submitted in 2006, the cucumber was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia in 2011. After variety trials, the variety is zoned in the Central region, which includes the Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Ivanovo, Ryazan, Moscow, Smolensk and Tula regions. Recommended for outdoor cultivation, but in cooler regions this crop is successfully grown in greenhouses. It is a hybrid, so the seeds are always labeled F1.
Description
The plant is indeterminate, of medium vigor, medium-branched, moderately leafy. Differs in constant regeneration of shoots. The internodes of the variety are short. The leaves are small to medium in size, the color is green or dark green, the surface is slightly wrinkled, the petiole is long. The flowering type is female. One leaf node contains from 1 to 3 female flowers.
The fruits of the Dirigent are short, cylindrical in shape, up to 10 cm long (maximum length 14 cm). The ratio of length to diameter is 3.1: 1. The skin is thin, but dense, tinged green, with short light stripes and moderate mottling. The type of shirt is German. The surface of the cucumber is covered with frequent and very small tubercles, the pubescence is white, dense. The pulp is dense, without voids, tender, juicy, without bitterness, white-green color. The taste is sweet - good and excellent. Gardeners also speak highly of the taste of the culture. The seed chamber is small, small seeds are at the stage of milky ripeness. Fruit size does not change throughout the entire harvesting period. The weight of the greenery, according to the State Register, is 67 - 80 grams.
Variety characteristics
- In terms of ripening, the Dirigent is classified as medium early. From the moment of emergence to the beginning of fruiting, 40 - 42 days pass;
- fruiting is constant and uniform throughout the entire period, without jerking. Marketable yield of 476 - 692 c / ha, which is 127 - 171 c / ha higher than those taken for the standard Druzhina F1 and Semcross F1;
- the reliability of the variety is confirmed by good immunity. The State Register notes the high resistance of cucumber to olive spot and cucumber mosaic virus;
- our hero belongs to parthenocarpics, therefore, he easily sets the crop on his own both indoors and outdoors, even under adverse weather conditions;
- The conductor is considered very plastic, perfectly adapts to environmental conditions (but only in the tolerance region);
- fruits of this variety do not outgrow, perfectly retain their original shape;
- transport qualities are very good. Keeping quality, subject to storage standards, does not fail;
- the way of eating cucumbers is universal. Zelentsy are good in salads, have excellent salting qualities, because it is the small-knobby fruits that are considered the standard of lightly salted cucumbers, suitable for pickling and canning.
Agrotechnics
You can grow a hybrid Dirigent by seed method or seedling. The latter is considered the most reliable and convenient, since it allows you to save seeds and get an earlier harvest (when grown under a covering material). To cultivate the variety in an open bed, seeds are sown for seedlings in early May, and transplanted to a permanent place in early June. For the greenhouse, seedlings begin to grow earlier - at the end of April. In this case, transplantation into closed ground is carried out in May.The optimal planting density of cucumbers in a greenhouse is 2.5 - 3 plants per 1 square meter, on the street you can plant thicker - up to 5 plants per 1 square meter. meter. The plant prefers light, fertile humus soils with a pH of 6.3 - 6.8. When preparing the site, in the fall, it is recommended to bring manure for digging from 5 to 10 kg per 1 square meter. After the seedlings have rooted, the bushes are tied to the trellis. According to some sources, our hero can be grown and spread, which greatly facilitates caring for him. In this case, mulch should be placed under the stems. The rest of the care is normal for the culture as a whole.
Hybrid Dirigent has established itself as reliable and productive, and this has earned high marks and vegetable growers. The open type of bush makes it easier not only to care, but also to harvest. When growing cucumbers under a non-woven fabric, the crop ripens ahead of schedule. There were no significant shortcomings in the variety. But the seeds will have to be purchased annually.
