Rose Amadeus

Landscape designers in their work often gladly resort to the help of climbing roses. However, ordinary amateur gardeners do not lag behind professionals. These flowers allow you to decorate arches, walls, columns and fences, and many more places where a tall, fast-growing and flowering plant is required. Now we will get acquainted with a bright representative of "climbing" roses, the Amadeus variety.

History of creation

This variety was created in 2003 by specialists of the famous German nursery "Kordes & Sons" (W). The variety received the registration name KORlabriax, under which it existed until 2007, when at an exhibition in Canada it appeared before the audience as Amadeus. Subsequently, this name began to prevail, it was announced at other exhibitions, turning into a commercial one.

Let's remember the "namesakes"

It is important to emphasize that among the variety of roses there are often “namesakes” - different varieties with the same names. That Amadeus, which we began to talk about, is also no exception. At least three more roses with the same name are now known. True, they are significantly inferior in prevalence and popularity of "our" variety. However, to avoid confusion, let's briefly review them.

Amadeus KORsetag

Let's name this variety first of all, as it, like the previous one, is also the brainchild of the Kordes & Sons nursery. Let's say even more - and the year of their creation is the same, 2003! To avoid confusion, the registration name is usually written next to the commercial name - KORsetag. The variety is a hybrid tea rose that grows as a bush with large, dark red flowers.

Amadeus Kordana

And the specialists of the legendary kennel Kordes & Sons have applied their skills and talent to this variety! Known person who is the creator of the rose - Tim Herman Cordes. Under his leadership, a new variety was born in 2009. It belongs to the class of miniature red roses, with small double flowers that appear on the plant several times per season.

Amadeus Baramad

But here we have already done without the Kordes kennel. The rosette under this name was created by the Italian Vittorio Barney, moreover, back in 1991. It turns out that among all the "namesakes" she is the oldest. Refers to bush roses with simple small flowers, each consisting of 4 - 8 petals. The color of the petals is pale red, with a pronounced yellowish center. The leaves are also small, bright green.

Description of the appearance of Amadeus KORlabriax

But back to our main character. We have already met her "namesakes", and now we will consider her appearance, at the same time making sure that confusing these flowers, despite the same names, is almost impossible.

Many connoisseurs call Amadeus one of the best climbing roses. It forms wide, powerful bushes, which, however, rarely grow above 3 meters, which is actually a modest indicator for this kind of roses. But this is where her beauty lies! Thanks to such relatively short shoots, they often need not be tied up, they are able to stand upright, without requiring artificial support and support.

Large dark green leaves are perfectly combined with the same large, double flowers that form dense inflorescences. Each inflorescence grows 5-7 flowers, which, moreover, do not fade in the sun for a long time. To top it all off, these flowers exude a strong, persistent scent with fruity notes in the bouquet.

Another advantage is the remontant bloom, which is repeated twice a season. Each wave lasts about one and a half months, so it would not be a big stretch to say that Amadeus blooms all summer and even in autumn. Considering that the flowers of the rose are double and large (each consists of 17-25 petals), the adult bush literally blazes red.

Care features

To the external advantages of this variety, it is necessary to add such technical qualities as increased resistance to diseases, exposure to rain, excellent frost resistance. Even a novice gardener can handle a flower, he forgives many mistakes. The main thing is to plant a bush in a place that is illuminated by direct rays for at least several hours a day and is well ventilated. The rose also does not make high demands on the soil. Make sure that the site does not turn out to be swampy, and the earth is loose, nutritious.

The frost resistance of this variety, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), corresponds to zones 6 to 9. By winter, long shoots should be cut off and laid on the ground, leaving 5-6 eyes on each. Even with light cover, Amadeus is able to withstand around -30 °.

The advantages of this rose have been repeatedly noted at various exhibitions. For example, she was awarded a gold medal in the Czech Republic in 2007, and received the highest quality certificate in France in 2004.

My climbing Amadeus was ... presented to me. A familiar flower girl donated several unsold, half-dried roses. It is questionable whether they will take root in the May heat. At home, I planted only one, on which I found a small living kidney. In partial shade, there was no other place. So I got this rose that amazes with indestructibility Disease, heat, rain this variety does not care. The first wave of flowering caps lasts over a month. Somewhere in August there is a second, even more magnificent and abundant. But even between them, single buds open. The color of the petals is velvety, with a slight shine on the curves. It darkens when it fades. And does not crumble! But the smell is weak and not at all pink. For me, it looks more like a fruit cherry compote with unripe apricots. The growth of the bush is a head taller than mine, 167 cm. The scourges are plump and very thorny. Amadeus hibernates with me without shelter, standing, but with a high hillock.

This rose is a queen! The variety is gorgeous: the rose is resistant to any diseases - it is not afraid of either black spot or powdery mildew, flowers of a bright juicy color - they do not fade, rain does not spoil them, and even with "age" they do not acquire an unpleasant shade, the stems are thick and strong, but the rose fits perfectly, it overwinters well too (I have practically no shelter), if there are freezing, it is only at the ends of young shoots, which has almost no effect on the abundance of the first wave of flowering.
