Agrotechnics
In open ground, Mulatto seeds are sown from about mid-April. In cooler areas, work may start in May. Sowing pattern: 8 cm between plants, row spacing - 30 cm. Planting depth - 3 - 4 cm. Growth-friendly temperature - 15 - 23 ° C. Beets are demanding on light, so you need to choose a well-lit area for the garden. The soil should be well, but not excessively wet. Therefore, the amount of watering must be strictly controlled. In addition, agricultural technology includes the obligatory loosening of the soil and weeding.
It is easy and pleasant to grow a Mulatto. She is unpretentious and undemanding. By performing standard care measures, in return you get a large and high-quality crop that can be stored for a long time without problems. No serious flaws were found in the variety.
The mulatto lives up to its name. The pulp is dark red, the color is preserved during cooking. I liked the fact that the roots do not grow to large sizes and at the same time have a neat rounded shape. But in order to keep it longer, I plant it not in April, but always on May 10. We prepare beetroot salad and caviar for the winter, and in the summer - healthy kvass and delicious borscht. We store it in the cellar, just pour it into a pile on potatoes.
This is one of the best varieties for long-term storage.
I planted this variety together with the Bordeaux variety. I did not notice much difference between them for myself. I try to plant less often so as not to do unnecessary work, and the plants also suffer from damage. When leaves appear, I mulch the entire garden bed, which significantly reduces the need for watering. The root vegetables have a sweet taste, they do not lose color during processing.
