Tomato variety Pear
Tomatoes of unusual shape are always of interest. A group of several varieties, united by one name Pear, is very popular with gardeners and consumers. These cute tomatoes not only look pretty attractive on a bush, but can also decorate a festive table. Moreover, small pear-shaped fruits have several color options. These varieties are not hybrids, which means that tomato growers interested in breeding them will be able to independently collect seed.
Pear red
This variety was bred a long time ago, 20 years ago. In 1998, the breeders of the Scientific and Production Corporation NK. LTD ”filed an application for registration of the novelty. It was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia in 2000 with admission to cultivation in all regions of the country. The variety is recommended for growing in open ground and under film shelters in garden plots, in personal and small farms.
Description
The plant is indeterminate, tall. In the open field, the height of the tomato usually does not exceed 150 cm, in the closed field - 2 meters. Internodes are elongated, shoots and leafiness are moderate. Tomato-type leaves, not very large, green. The flowers are small, yellow, collected in a simple brush. The first fruit cluster in Red Pear is laid quite early for an indeterminate variety - above 8 - 9 leaves. Subsequent ones are formed every 3 sheets. One brush can form from 5 to 12 ovaries. The peduncle is articulated.
Small fruits are one-dimensional, bright, have an original pear-shaped shape. Tight to the touch. They look very appetizing. The surface is smooth, the skin is moderately dense, firm. The weight of the fetus, according to the State Register, is 45 - 65 grams, according to other sources - 50 - 80 grams. Unripe tomato is light green, with a dark spot at the stalk. When ripe, it becomes deep red, the stain disappears. The pulp is juicy, fleshy, of dense consistency, according to some gardeners, slightly crunchy. There are no voids in the middle of the tomato. The number of seed nests is 2 - 3. The taste is good, sweetish. Taste qualities are noted as high.
Characteristics
- The red pear belongs to the mid-season. From the moment of emergence of full shoots to the beginning of maturation, 110 - 115 days pass;
- the harvesting period lasts from July to September;
- yield of marketable products, according to the State Register - 5.0 - 5.6 kg per 1 square meter. One of the seed producers, SeDeK, has declared this figure slightly higher - 7.0 - 8.0 kg per sq. meters;
- the variety is stress-resistant, adapting well to environmental changes;
- tomato has a high resistance to the main diseases of the culture;
- transportability of fruits, due to their dense structure, is excellent. On the way, they do not lose their presentation;
- during storage, the marketable and taste qualities of the fruit do not deteriorate;
- the way of eating tomatoes is universal. Red pear is recommended for fresh use. In consistency and shape, the fruits are ideal for canning;
- seed germination is high - 80 - 90%.
Agrotechnics
The variety is grown in a popular seedling method. Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out 60 - 65 days before the intended transplantation into the ground. Based on this, in each region it is advisable to independently calculate the sowing time. In the southern regions, this process can begin from mid-February, in cool regions - almost a month later, in March. Tomatoes are planted in the greenhouse at the end of April, in open ground - in May or June. The seeds are processed in the usual way, the depth of planting in the soil is 2 - 3 cm. The pick is carried out after the appearance of the second true leaf. 10 - 15 days before transplanting to a permanent place, the seedlings begin to harden. Given the tallness of the plant, a garter is indispensable.The culture shows the best indicators when formed in 2 stems. For this, one stepson is left, located under the first flower brush, the rest are removed. In order for the entire crop to ripen, no more than 6 - 8 fruit brushes are left on the bush. The top is pinched to limit further growth. Plant care is standard. Watering is carried out as needed. It is recommended to use water heated in the sun for moisturizing. Top dressing is carried out with complex mineral fertilizers. Tomatoes are regularly harvested. Preventive measures will protect the Red Pear from possible diseases and pests. Loosening will restore air exchange in the soil, and weeding will eliminate weeds competing for food and moisture.
The planting site for this variety should be sunny, the soil should be nutritious and loose. When growing in a greenhouse, it is advisable to protect the plant from drafts. The planting scheme is traditional - 40 cm between bushes, row spacing - 50 cm. Recommended density per 1 square meter - 3 plants formed into two stems, or 4, formed into one trunk.
This variety is appreciated for its original fruit appearance, yield, good taste and excellent possibilities for whole-fruit canning. The downside is the need for garters and shaping.
Pear pink
Following the red predecessor, pink soon appeared. The applicant for this tomato is also ZAO Scientific and Production Corporation NK. LTD ". The variety was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia in 2001. All regions are suitable for cultivation. The variety is recommended for cultivation in open ground in garden plots, in personal and small farms.

Agrotechnics
Sowing for seedlings is carried out in March - April. Under temporary shelters, dived and hardened seedlings are planted in mid-May, in open ground - in June. Planting pattern - 40 cm between bushes, row spacing - 50 cm. Planting density - up to 4 plants per 1 square meter. Garter and pinning are required. The culture shows the best results when formed in 2 - 3 stems. By the end of the growing season, the growing point is pinched to stimulate the rapid ripening of the remaining tomatoes. Agricultural technology is fully consistent with that described above.
This is an unpretentious variety, which is valued for its stable and high yield, unusual and original shape of the fruits, their beautiful color and suitability for canning whole fruits. The downside is the inability to do without the garter and shaping.
Pear black
This variety differs not only in shape, but also in unusual colors, as evidenced by its name. The variety is not listed in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. Agrotechnics
The method of formation and agricultural technology completely coincide with the red predecessor. But once again I would like to note that the planting site and care play a big role in the yield and taste. Plants should receive the maximum amount of sunlight, then the taste of the fruit will be sweet, and not watery and insipid.
This variety is valued for its high yield, good taste, original fruit shape and color. Although there are isolated negative statements regarding taste, and the color in the seaming does not look very advantageous. In addition, the plant requires garters and shaping.
In addition to the varieties listed above, there are others with similar names:
