The parental forms were Burbank plum (Chinese) and Tavricheskaya cherry plum. In the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia, the variety has been listed since 1969, and since that time is considered the leading zoned variety of the North Caucasus region (Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, the Republic of Ingushetia, Adygea, North Ossetia-Alania, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkar, Chechen, Crimea , Rostov region). Originator - Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Nikitsky Botanical Garden - National Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Description

The bark of the trunk is dark gray, with a small number of medium-sized lentils. The stem is even, not thick. The overgrowing twigs are short and short-lived. Generative buds are round, small in size, lagging behind the shoot, the scales of the blossoming buds are green. Inflorescence Abundant consists of 2 flowers with a slightly open corolla, 20 - 23 mm in size. Petals are oval, with a strongly corrugated edge and wavy top, small in size - 10 mm long, 8 mm wide. The taste is good, sweet and sour, the assessment of the tasters is 4 points. 100 grams of pulp contains: dry matter 11.2%, sugars 7.2 - 9%, including 3.7% sucrose and 3.5 monosaccharides, acids 2.02 - 2.3%, vitamin C 3.5 - 5.1 mg.

Characteristics

  • Abundant - early-growing variety. Already in the 2nd or 3rd year after planting, the tree bears a harvest;
  • The flowering of the variety falls in mid-April;
  • in terms of ripening cherry plum refers to the mid-season - the fruits ripen at the end of June;
  • ripe fruits overripe and crumble rather quickly, so the crop should be harvested on time;
  • the name very accurately conveys the peculiarity of the fruiting culture. The branches are densely hung with fruits. According to the State Register, the average yield is 111 c / ha. From 8 - 10-year-old trees, 45 kg can be removed, and under good conditions, all 60 kg of high-quality fruits;

  • excessive crop overload negatively affects the growth of shoots, therefore it is important to carry out rationing. This procedure will also increase the weight of the fruit;
  • fruiting is regular, without interruption;
  • winter hardiness is average, quite sufficient for warm regions. But, according to reviews, frosts at -30 ° C and above can harm the trunk and main branches;
  • drought tolerance Abundant not high enough;
  • our heroine is self-infertile. Therefore, a number of cherry plums should be planted nearby, blooming with it at the same time, for example, Spherical;
  • the originators declare the variety as moderately resistant to major diseases. But gardeners often note the high resistance of the plant to diseases and pests;
  • transportability and keeping quality are good, due to the strong skin and dense structure of the fruit;
  • the way of using is universal. Cherry plum is consumed in its natural form, however, sweet tooths will need to remove the skin from the fruit before eating. Also, the crop is processed, preserved. Evaluation of processed fruits: juice with pulp 4.4 points, jam 4.3 points, frozen - 4.2 points, compote 4.1 points.

Agrotechnics

Agrotechnology is simple, it consists of techniques that are applied to the culture as a whole. But in order to maintain the shoot-forming ability at the proper level, it is necessary to carry out correct pruning and rationing of the crop. At the age of 10, rejuvenating pruning is done. The culture is responsive to watering; in dry autumn, pre-winter watering will increase the frost resistance of the tree.

Abundant is appreciated primarily for a generous harvest, high marketability of fruits and universal use. But the taste for a sweet tooth may seem sour, but if you remove the skin, the cherry plum pulp will be sweeter. Maintenance is complicated by the need for rationing and pruning. The disadvantage of the variety is its low winter hardiness; in cool regions, the stem will have to be insulated.
