Eggplant variety Epic (F1)
Epic is an early maturing eggplant variety from the world's largest seed company, Monsanto (Netherlands). In 2008 it was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation. Recommended for cultivation in the southern regions of Russia on personal subsidiary plots. Epic is intended for outdoor cultivation, but also works well in greenhouses. 65 days pass from planting seedlings in the ground to technical ripeness.
Plants are vigorous, tall (90 - 100 cm), erect, semi-spreading, with high vigor. Stem medium pubescent, with low to medium anthocyanin coloration. Leaves are green, medium in size.
Eggplants are glossy, cylindrical, aligned in shape and size (average length - 22 cm, diameter - 10 cm), dark purple in color, weighing 220 - 230 grams. The pulp is dense, white, without bitterness and practically without seeds. The calyx is covered with sparsely spaced spines. The yield per square meter is 5.8 kg.
Advantages of the Epic hybrid: high yield, resistance to temperature extremes and tobacco mosaic virus, excellent taste.
In general, this is a classic eggplant variety, both in taste and in appearance.
We appreciate it for its soft taste and uniformity of fruits. Also good fruit set, both in warm and cool weather. If you break off your stepchildren, then in a warm year and with good feeding it can be higher than 1.5 m.And without shaping, we don't even tie it up, however, under the weight of the fruit, the bushes can collapse.
I like Epic (F1) eggplants for good yields. The fruits are all flat, without any flaws. They do not require much care, since they are almost not susceptible to disease. If you are planting eggplants, try to set them apart from the potatoes, otherwise you risk being left without a crop. The Colorado potato beetle loves blue beetles, and it takes only one day not to check the bushes, it will gobble up all the inflorescences. I also love this variety because it has less bitterness than other varieties. It is very good for harvesting for the winter, I make different salads, but my mother-in-law's tongue is obligatory, everything turns out very tasty thanks to the eggplants.
At first, when I saw these eggplants on the market, I thought they were old, overgrown fruits - they were just huge! But the seller assured me that this was not so - I did not believe it, and to make sure I was right, I bought a couple of fruits. I turned out to be wrong - the eggplants were large, but not at all old (there were no ripe seeds inside, the flesh was dense, and as it turned out - very tasty, completely without bitterness). I remembered the name of the variety - I found and bought the seeds. The next year, large and powerful eggplant bushes grew on my site (a bush grows up to 1 meter in the open field), on which many black glossy fruits hung. As a gardener, I am pleased with such a yield, but there are so many fruits that they interfere with each other, the bush is not able to hold them and falls, I have to tie it up. The variety also pleased with its strong immunity - it does not react at all to weather changes, is not affected by diseases and sets fruits well both in heat and in rainy weather.
