Eggplant variety Marzipan (F1)
Marzipan is a medium-ripening eggplant variety from the Russian vegetable garden seed breeding company. From sowing seeds to the onset of technical ripeness, 120 - 125 days pass. This hybrid tolerates heat and drought well, but is also great for growing in northern regions.
The plant reaches a height of about one meter. The fruits are fleshy, very large (up to 15 cm long, up to 8 cm wide, weighing up to a kilogram or more), covered with a glossy dark purple rind. Even at the end of the season, the weight of the fruit reaches 300 - 400 grams. The pulp is juicy, creamy white, with a delicate taste, without bitterness, has a sweetish aftertaste. Seeds are small, in fruits they are contained in small quantities.
When growing, eggplant Marzipan requires support, since the bushes fall to the ground under the weight of the fruits.
This eggplant is grown through seedlings. Seeds are sown in the first days of March. A mixture of sod land and peat (1: 1) with the addition of a small fraction of humus is used as a soil. Seedlings appear in 7 - 10 days. Before planting in the ground, mineral fertilizing is carried out twice. Transplanting to greenhouses is carried out in mid-May, in open ground - in June, when the threat of frost has passed.
Advantages of the Marzipan variety: excellent fruit taste, resistance to adverse conditions.
Frankly, I didn't like eggplants at all until I started growing them for my mom. One of the first was Marzipan F1. And this is just a great greenhouse decoration! Very beautiful, shiny and large fruits. The juicy tender pulp and sweetish taste of these eggplants have firmly established it among my favorites. In the northwest, it is better to grow it in a greenhouse, then the yield is guaranteed. Since the fruits are quite large, it makes sense to tie the plant up to trellises or pegs.
The variety is delicious in any way of processing, as well as in blanks, but it is especially loved in grilling and in rolls of snacks. Caviar is especially tasty, because the fruits of this hybrid do not contain any bitterness at all.
I strongly recommend that you may well change your attitude towards eggplants.
In my country house, this eggplant has been growing in the open field for many years. I plant seeds in March on the windowsill, and at the end of May I take out the seedlings to the garden. A very good variety, large fruits, without bitterness, which was important for me when preparing eggplant caviar. If you water and fertilize the plants on time, the harvest is always good. True, the bushes need to be tied up, when the ripening of the fruits begins, they can break. This year, the warm weather lasted until October, the eggplants bore fruit and even continued to bloom.
