Potato variety Agata
Agata is a Dutch mid-season potato (Solanum tuberosum) for table use. Plastic, adaptable to any soil and climate, is widespread throughout Russia. Differs in a good presentation, resistance to mechanical damage, high yield. Suitable for machine cleaning, cultivated both on an industrial scale and for personal consumption in garden plots. A feature is the poor digestibility of tubers.
From germination to harvest, 80-85 days pass. The first digging can be done earlier, around the 60th day of the growing season.
The plant is of medium height, moderately spreading, with an average amount of green mass. The main stem is erect. The leaves are simple, medium-sized, slightly wavy at the edges. The flowers are large, white in color. This potato hardly produces berries.
In one nest of Agatha, an average of 6-9 marketable tubers with a weight of 70-140 grams each are formed. They have an oval-rounded or rounded regular shape, a flat surface, without depressions and bumps. The peel is yellow, the flesh is white. The eyes are small, shallow.
The yield of the variety is high, it can reach 400 c / ha. From one plant, you can consistently get about 1.5-2 kg of tubers. Marketability is at a decent level, the amount of small change in the nest is minimal. Keeping quality is very good - 93%.
Agata has excellent taste, it is suitable for preparing absolutely any dishes, but it is best suited for frying, stuffing, and will also be an excellent addition to salads, vegetable mixtures and soups. The tubers are poorly boiled, the finished pulp is not crumbly, so this potato is not particularly suitable for mashed potatoes. During heat treatment, it does not darken, and also does not lose its shape, so that dishes made from it look very appetizing and neat. The starch content in the pulp is kept at the level of 12-14%.
Our hero is not picky about soil and climate, is drought-resistant, and in general is not very dependent on weather conditions. Even in the worst seasons, it can produce abundant crops. It grows best on light sandy loam and loam, rich in nutritional and mineral composition. In care, the variety is unpretentious, does not require special attention to itself. However, one should not neglect preventive treatments against diseases and pests. The variety is susceptible to late blight on the tops and tubers, but manages to yield the crop before it appears. Do not delay cleaning!
Agata is moderately resistant to all common potato diseases, but you still cannot do without preventive measures. Do not forget about the treatment with insecticides - the Colorado potato beetle willingly settles on plants.
The variety is liked by gardeners for early amicable ripening, good taste, excellent presentation and high yield. They also note its undemandingness to soil and climate, unpretentious care and resistance to common diseases. The good news is that Agatha can be propagated with eyes - that is, less seed is needed than with a normal planting with whole tubers.
The main disadvantage of potatoes is considered vulnerability to late blight, however, with proper agricultural technology and timely harvesting, this problem will not become very serious. The variety is distinguished by the early return of marketable tubers, so even when digging one and a half to two months after full germination, you can get a very good result!
