Rosara potato variety

Rosara is an incredibly popular variety of potatoes for table use, bred by leading German breeders, both among gardeners of the South Urals and beyond. The bush is an erect semi-spreading plant of medium size with red-violet flowers. The tubers are covered with a few small “eyes” and have a color ranging from pink-red to dark red, while the flesh of the tubers is yellow. All tubers are of the same slightly elongated oval shape and approximately equal in size, as if pre-calibrated.

This potato has a good yield, which allows you to collect up to 15-18 tubers weighing 90-120 grams from one bush, while the so-called record-breaking bushes are capable of producing offspring of even up to 25 tubers. The average yield obtained in the process of carrying out state tests was 20-30 tons per hectare, and the maximum yield was almost 42 tons of selected potatoes.

Rosara potato variety

Rosara is quite stable and one of the most reliable varieties at the moment, the whims of nature practically do not affect its yield in any way. Excellent results are achieved in hot, dry summers and cool, rainy ones. It is resistant to potato nematode, cancer, relatively resistant to common scab and late blight. On healthy soil, with standard plant care, it is possible to collect up to 300 - 400 kg of marketable tubers from each hundred square meters, and with a higher level of agricultural technology, more than 500 kg from one hundred square meters. At the same time, the yield does not decrease for 4 - 5 years, as a result of which there is no need to frequently renew planting material. Marketability of this variety is 91 - 99%.

Rosara potato variety

Rosara has a number of unique and useful qualities. One of which is a much shorter period of tubers ripening compared to other similar varieties, which is only 65 - 70 days from the moment the sprouts appear until the crop is fully ripe. That is, if the seed is planted in the ground at the end of May, then in the second half of August there is an opportunity to harvest a full-fledged crop, which is much easier to carry out than during the rainy autumn.

Rosara potato variety

Rosara also has very good storage properties, suitable for processing into dried potatoes, which is quite a rarity among varieties with an early ripening period. Excellent transport tolerance.

Another positive and, probably, the most significant quality of this potato for a person is its excellent taste. The tubers contain a small amount of starch, approximately 12 - 16%, due to which during the cooking process they practically do not boil and do not crumble, retaining their natural appearance and shape. Rosara is ideal for use in salads as well as in soups and main courses.

Low starch content in tubers - not suitable for boiled use, this is true. But for frying and in the first courses - wonderful potatoes. It is stored perfectly. Productivity is high, ripens early.

Last summer I grew this variety for the first time. Planted at the end of March under agrofibre to reap an early harvest. By the end of June, I had already dug up young potatoes the size of a chicken egg. There were up to 5 - 7 potatoes under the bush. Everything is about the same, which is very good, it is a pity to throw out a trifle. Not very palatable, watery and tasteless. But she attributed this to excessive watering and unripeness. Part of the plantation was removed after the tops were completely dry. The tubers are beautiful, large, no rot, they love this on the market. But the taste has hardly changed - it is weakly boiled, which means that it is not suitable for the first courses. The next year, I left the seed material, but with the expectation that I would additionally plant proven varieties, tasty and quickly digestible, with a high starch content. And Rosara is good for frying, salads and chips. Another observation of mine is that he loves the soil into which potassium was introduced, and not organic matter - it so happened that the plantation for planting was partially fertilized with different fertilizers, so there was an opportunity to compare.

I also found it tasteless when I started just digging in, but when I started digging the last one, it apparently matured and was very tasty.

When we bought this variety at the exhibition, we were immediately told not to expect any special results in the first year, that the high yield would be only in a year. In truth, when the harvest was dug at the end of the summer, there was a great desire to bury the dug back. But the next year, the results were very pleasing - about 300 kg of rather large pink-red tubers were dug from a hundred square meters.

And, despite the fact that these potatoes are not suitable for cooking, now we definitely plant Rosaru especially for French fries and homemade chips, which can be cooked almost until the next harvest, because this variety is perfectly stored.

I really like Rosara. In the first year, it was very productive, large, such poltorashki flew from the bush. If you take good care of it, then 29 potatoes suitable for cleaning can come out of the bush. But, if you do not look after, start weeding, then nothing really will grow. Although, in theory, this rule applies to all varieties of potatoes. It does not cook for so long in the first courses, there is, for example, Ramona, which will cook for a very long time. It tastes good too, I can't say anything bad about it. I would not give such a hypothesis that it is not for everybody's taste - very tasty. Just cut smaller and that's it. The second courses are very tasty. Stored well. Diseases are not particularly sick. Well, it really depends on the ground, but I have never been sick. Very tasty (baked) in the fire.
I recommend this variety to everyone !!!

Are you talking about Rosar? Probably you didn't get it. Rosara does not develop in soups, borscht, it is perfectly stewed, mashed potatoes from it are delicious, and the most favorite dish of my children is baked potatoes, the slices form a crispy crust, but inside it is almost mashed potatoes. The most favorite potato in our family is Rosara.
