Potato variety Luck
The result of breeding work of the State Scientific Institution All-Russian Research Institute of Potato Farming. AG LORKHA - "Good luck" is the pride of the Russian selection of agricultural crops and is an early maturing variety of table potatoes adapted to various types of soil. Far Eastern, Volgo-Vyatka, North-West, Middle Volga and Central Black Earth - the most recommended territorial regions for the cultivation of this variety, but due to its high adaptability to various climatic conditions and good resistance to drought and heat, this potato is able to provide guaranteed high yield (about 40 - 45 t / ha) and in other soil and climatic zones.
The variety is resistant to waterlogging, wet and dry rot, cancer, scab, mosaic viruses, late blight of tubers, rhizoctonia, mechanical damage. Susceptible to golden potato nematode, Alternaria and late blight on the tops.
Shoots of potato tops Luck are of medium height, spreading, strongly leafy bush, with matte leaves of a dark green color. They are characterized by rare berry formation. The flowers are white, medium in size, the sepals are strongly curved downwards. The light sprout is spherical with a red-violet base.
The tubers of this potato are rather large, rounded-oval, slightly blunt in shape, and have a thin, cream-colored skin, smooth to the touch, covered with a few very small sprouts. The pulp of the tubers is white with a starch content of 12-14%. When using chloride and potash fertilizers, darkening of the pulp was noticed during the cooking of tubers.
Potato variety Luck has a good yield and allows you to collect from 10 to 15, and sometimes even up to 20 tubers weighing 100 - 150 grams from each healthy bush. The maximum yield of this variety, obtained during state tests, amounted to more than 45 tons of marketable potatoes per hectare, and the average 42 - 43 tons of selected potatoes also from each hectare of cultivated land. The growing season of this variety is from 80 to 90 days, but already with early harvesting, approximately on the 45th day after germination, it is possible to collect a completely full harvest - 18 - 20 tons per hectare.
Potatoes Luck, thanks to its early maturity, high yield, natural soil plasticity, versatility of use, excellent marketability (88 - 97%) and excellent storage performance (84 - 96%), has won recognition among numerous professional farmers and amateur gardeners, becoming one from the best and most popular varieties of Russian selection. But this variety also has disadvantages. Potatoes at SeDeK tastings are far from being the leaders due to their rather mediocre taste. Although the taste and color ...
I really liked the variety. I don’t understand how you can not like its taste. I bought this variety 7 years ago at the bazaar from a woman who traded these potatoes and praised him very much. Then, to renew it, I bought this variety from the company "Garden and Vegetable Garden", but the potatoes had already become worse in terms of yield and taste. Now I want to update it again, but, no matter how much I surfed the Internet, I found it only on the Sedek website, but their delivery costs almost the same as the cost of the potatoes themselves. This outrages me. I am waiting for this variety to be brought to our stores.
You could update yourself by collecting seeds, but when buying, you need to find out which reproduction is a potato. CEDEK, I think, has a super-super-elite, if it's expensive. In different areas and on different soils, LUCK shows itself in different ways. Conclusion: you have to try. With us, he showed himself in any way.
This variety is not suitable for storage, it withers quickly, and will not last until the New Year. Good taste, I liked it.
I do not agree, it is well preserved until spring! We have been planting this variety for many years. We renew the seeds after 3 years.
The variety is very good, I liked it! Despite the fact that our soil is very moist and heavy, there was practically no rotten soil. In terms of taste, excellent potatoes are the golden mean. Does not boil down into porridge and not like soap. Keeping quality is excellent.
Unfortunately, I was a failure with Luck. It was one of my first varieties when I got a vegetable garden. There was still no experience at all. The first two years the harvest was excellent, because the land on my site was "rested", one might say - virgin land. But in the third year it seemed to me that it was time to apply fertilizers. I introduced fresh manure in the spring before digging the site. Only later did I learn that this should not be done in the spring, only in the fall. And, of course, as a result, the potatoes got scab, despite the fact that Fortune seems to be quite resistant to diseases. I had to add dolomite flour to the site in the fall, and in the spring to change the planting material, but to a different variety. And so - the potatoes are very good, and, I remember, I liked the taste and keeping quality.
