Cucumber variety Bumblebee (F1)

Many of the cucumber varieties that are being created require pollination. But for this process to be successful, you cannot just plant another variety nearby and hope for a high-quality harvest. Seed agricultural firm "Manul" specially for this purpose bred several hybrids that provide high-quality pollination of female flowers of neighboring crops. Among them is the Bumblebee, which, in addition to the main goal, is also able to show a high level of fruiting. The novelty was announced in 2013, entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia in 2015 with admission to cultivation in all regions of the country. The cucumber is recommended for growing in film greenhouses and under film shelters in personal subsidiary plots. The seed bags should always have the F1 marking, since the hero of our article is a hybrid.

Description

The bush is indeterminate, with unlimited growth, therefore it can reach a height of 2.0 meters. Strong branching, long lateral shoots, moderate foliage. The leaves of the variety are medium-sized, green, long-petiolized, with a rough surface. The flowering type is mixed. The number of female flowers in the leaf node is 1 - 2. The fruits are beautiful, fusiform-cylindrical, without a neck, short. The color of the cucumber is dark green with short light stripes. The surface is moderately covered with not very large tubercles, complex pubescence, black spines. The pulp is juicy, tender, moderately dense, crispy and aromatic. The palatability is distinguished as excellent. The length of the greenery ready for harvesting is from 10 to 13 cm, the diameter is 3.2 - 3.9 cm. Weight is 90 - 120 grams.

Variety characteristics

  • Bumblebee is an early ripe vegetable. From the moment of germination to the start of harvesting, 41 - 45 days pass;
  • taking into account the purpose of the cucumber, the resulting marketable yield can be called quite good - 4.0 kg per 1 square meter in film greenhouses;
  • immunity is high - resistance to cladosporiosis, cucumber mosaic virus, powdery mildew and downy mildew is noted. But some gardeners still pointed out that the plant is not as resistant to powdery mildew as described;
  • transportability and keeping quality of zelents are good;
  • the way of use is universal. Cucumbers are great for making vitamin salads, used in their natural form, have wonderful pickling and canning qualities.

Features of the

Bumblebee is a bee-pollinated variety. Its peculiarity is a long period of flowering of male flowers, due to which the yield of other varieties of cucumbers can increase by 50 - 70%. The planting percentage is 10-15%. This means that for 10 bushes of different cucumber species, it is enough to plant 1 or 2 pollinator bushes. In this capacity, our hero is suitable for all major bee-pollinated hybrids and is used in spring, summer and autumn turns. In addition, it can also be planted in open ground.

Agrotechnics

It is necessary to plant bumblebee seedlings in a permanent place at the same time as the varieties that need pollination. Since our hero blooms very early and male flowers do not fall off for a long time, it is not worth sowing it on seedlings before other hybrids, despite the fact that some sources indicate that this should be done in advance. The originators recommend sowing at the same time as the main varieties. Growing seedlings and caring for them is the same as for other crops. The formation scheme is carried out in a standard way. Cucumber care is no different. An unpretentious plant will have enough of the agricultural technology that will be applied to the main crops.

The Bumblebee hybrid is a unique plant in its own way. It is planted to increase the yield of other varieties, but besides this, fruits are removed from the plant itself, which are distinguished by excellent taste.
