Cucumber variety Shosha (F1)
Every self-respecting vegetable grower tries to grow cucumber novelties in order to identify the very ideal variety that will be prescribed in the garden or in the greenhouse. Among the freshest novelties presented by the agricultural firm "Partner", incredible results are shown by a cucumber with an unusual, affectionately sounding name Shosha. This variety immediately fell in love with gardeners. By the way, curious testers of new cucumber species planted this vegetable both in a greenhouse and in open ground, even grown in a barrel. The result is practically the same - the cucumber showed an excellent result. The author of a successful variety is Oleg Dmitrievich Kiramov, the applicant and originator is Vasily Ivanovich Blokin-Mechtalin. An application for registration of a new variety was submitted in 2016, and it was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia in 2018. Approved for cultivation in all regions of the country. Suitable for open ground and temporary film shelters of personal subsidiary plots. Shosha is a hybrid, therefore it is always labeled F1.
Description
Plant of indeterminate type, medium branched, well leafy. The height of the main stem in the greenhouse can exceed 2 meters. Leaves are medium and large (30 cm long and 38 cm wide), on long petioles, angular-cordate, medium-wrinkled, with a rough surface. The flowering type is female. The type of fruiting of cucumbers is bouquet, which means that in each leaf node, mainly 1–2 ovaries are formed, but sometimes their number reaches 3–4 pieces. Shoshi fruits are of high commercial quality, of the usual elongated-cylindrical shape, elastic, strong, green in color. Greens suitable for harvesting have a length of 9 - 12 cm and a diameter of about 3 cm. The skin is tender. The surface is medium lumpy, covered with white pubescence. The color of the pulp is light green. The pulp is juicy, tender, crunchy, very aromatic, without voids. The taste is excellent, sweet, but in moderation, without bitterness. The seed chambers are full, but the seeds themselves are undeveloped, at the stage of milk ripeness, so tender and small that they are not felt during use. The weight of the greenery according to the State Register is 60 - 70 grams.
Variety characteristics
- The Shosha hybrid is an early maturing crop. The harvest of cucumbers in central Russia (Moscow region) can be removed 40 - 42 days after the emergence of full shoots;
- the yield is excellent, as evidenced by numerous reviews. According to the State Register, under film shelters, the marketable yield per 1 square meter was 14.3 kg. The originator promises up to 18 kg from 1 sq. meters, and in the open about 12 kg from 1 sq. meters. In terms of one plant, it turns out 4 - 5 kg. But it is worth recalling that good results are possible only with proper adherence to agricultural technology;
- the fruiting period is long, begins in June and ends in August or September, depending on the region. In protected ground, the crop can bear fruit even when many other cucumber varieties have already completed their growing season;
- the immunity of the variety is high. Resistance to the main diseases is declared - powdery mildew, ordinary cucumber mosaic, target-shaped leaf spot and the yellowing virus of cucumber veins. The gardeners growing the culture confirm this fact, and as proof they post numerous photos and videos of the plant, on which, even closer to the end of fruiting, the leaves have a healthy appearance;
- in addition, the culture is considered resistant to adverse weather conditions;
- Parthenocarpicity allows Shosche to tie greens without pollination, which is especially appreciated when cultivated in a closed greenhouse, where insects cannot get;
- of course, it is advisable to remove the fruits at the moment when they have reached the desired size, but the green leaves remaining on the bush for longer than the prescribed time will not greatly grow in length and width;
- the way of use is universal.Crispy cucumbers of this variety are good in their natural form, in salads, excellent for canning and pickling.
Agrotechnics
First, about the seeds. As a rule, the agrofirm "Partner" sells inlaid cucumber seeds, that is, covered with a special protective film. This seed has already been treated with biologically active substances and drugs against diseases. Outwardly, such seeds look multi-colored - yellow, pink, blue. There is no need for additional processing, so the seeds are sown into the ground even without soaking. But if there is no color coating, then the processing should be carried out in accordance with all the rules. By the way, it is worth noting the very good germination of seed.
Shoshu can be grown by direct sowing and seedling. Before sowing directly into the soil, check the acidity of the soil, it should have a neutral pH, dig well and fertilize the site. There should be 3 plants per 1 square meter (especially, thickening in the greenhouse should be avoided). The seeding depth is 2 cm. The sowing period is May - June, depending on the regions (in the Moscow region, the recommended period is the first days of June), the earth needs to warm up to 12 - 15 ° C. If the weather is unstable, a temporary shelter can be installed over the bed. The seedling method is more suitable for cooler regions. For seedlings, seeds of cucumbers are sown in mid-April - May, and transplanted to a permanent place after about a month, when at least 3 to 4 true leaves appear on the seedlings. The bush must be tied to the trellis. To form a plant, remove all shoots and flowers formed in the lower 3 - 5 leaf nodes. Then you need to remove only the lateral shoots, which do not grow too quickly. The variety is very fond of water, but waterlogging can cause root diseases. For top dressing, you can use universal mineral fertilizers and organic matter.
Despite the fact that the Shosha cucumber had just appeared on the seed market, vegetable growers who tried it in business immediately put the hybrid on the list for planting next year. The crop has a lot of advantages, the main of which are a long fruiting period, high yield, disease resistance and simple agricultural technology. By the way, the excellent characteristics were also appreciated by farmers who grow vegetables for sale. But, of course, you should not neglect the rules of care, and then you will only describe the plant with enthusiastic epithets. Well, the housewives will probably have a couple of new recipes to test the pickling qualities of cucumbers. There were no shortcomings in the variety, but there are still disadvantages, although they have nothing to do with the characteristics - the price of Shoshi seeds is quite high, and it is impossible to collect material for sowing on your own.
