Rose Gospel
Ancient features can be seen not only in the flowers of English roses, but also in the appearance of tea hybrids. A striking example is the Gospel variety. In addition to the qualities mentioned, it also has a rich shade of petals, a pleasant aroma, unpretentious care and excellent health. This variety deserves to be a gem in your floral collection.
History of origin
Gospel is a German variety from 1997. This crop was bred in the famous Tantau nursery by breeder Hans Jürgen Evers. The variety also has other names: TAN02733, TANlepsog, Proper Job, Meier Tann Ruti-Rose. This variety is a representative of the nostalgic rose series.
Description of appearance and features
A tea hybrid with an unusual name looks very elegant. This is the merit, mainly, of bright, double, cup-shaped flowers, which have a quartered shape, divided into 4 fairly symmetrical sectors. They are medium in size (9-12 cm in diameter), consist of 65-70 petals and bloom in a spiral. Buds are formed one by one at the ends of thick stems or in small inflorescences of 3-5 pieces. The flowers of the attractive German woman have a delightful color: the flower petals are cherry or purple. Depending on the weather conditions, the shade of the inflorescences can change: on cool days it can be deep burgundy, and on warm days it is dark purple. Because of this feature, the flowers of the noble plant are called "chameleons". Their aroma is strong enough, oriental, persistent, with pronounced fruity and honey notes. The buds of the culture are large, at first rounded, then, as they develop, they are tall, goblet. Gospel is a re-flowering variety, the flowers of which begin to bloom in the second half of June, stay on the bush for a long time and retain their shape.
The rose bush forms a compact: up to half a meter wide, 60-90 cm high. The culture is distinguished by its rapid growth, the presence of vertical, erect, even shoots with a large number of thorns and leathery, semi-glossy foliage of a medium green hue. The flowers of a decorative perennial are absolutely not afraid of precipitation. The German aristocrat can boast of good immunity to diseases and average winter hardiness (does not react to frosts down to -23 ° C).
Growing and care
Gospel loves light, but it is best to plant it in partial shade or in places where the sun is only half a day. This will prevent sunburn on delicate flower petals. In addition, the rose must be protected from drafts and moisture stagnation, so do not place the plant in the most open spaces and in the lowlands.
The main requirements for the soil by perennials are: moisture capacity, air permeability, high fertility, weakly acidic reaction. Before planting a rose bush in it, the soil must be improved by enrichment with peat, humus, compost. It will not be superfluous to add sand to the soil mixture. Do not forget about the need for a high-quality drainage layer at the bottom of the planting pit, which is needed to prevent stagnation of moisture in the soil and, as a result, root rot. The recommended depth and width of the hole is about 40 cm. Make sure that the grafting site as a result of planting is 1–2 cm above the ground level.
Gospel should be looked after in the same way as any other tea hybrid. The main activities important for a rose are watering, fertilizing, weeding, loosening and mulching the soil in the area of the trunk circle, sanitary pruning, timely removal of faded inflorescences. To moisten the soil under the flower, use exclusively soft water at room temperature.Watering itself is carried out after sunset or early in the morning. The plant is fed with nitrogen (in the spring) and phosphorus-potassium (in the budding phase and the appearance of flowers on the bush, as well as at the end of flowering) fertilizers. A specialized mineral complex can also be used for this purpose. Spring pruning is carried out in the spring, during the period of swelling of the buds on the plant, as well as in the fall. In the first case, sick, frozen, weak shoots are removed, then a bush is formed. Autumn pruning is sanitary in nature, but may additionally include thinning dense perennials. Shelter for the winter plants is required. For this, preference is given to spruce branches or agrospan. If desired, a frame is installed above the rose. However, it is first required to spud the plant immediately after the autumn pruning with dry soil.
Use cases
The Gospel variety is suitable for placement in group and mixed plantings. It looks great in a company with other representatives of the nostalgic group of roses and, in general, other tea hybrids. The varieties Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Astrid Gräfin von Hardenberg are especially good companions for the crop. Our heroine will decorate flower beds, mixborders. Ornamental shrub can be combined with scented herbs and low conifers. Gospel is used to create hedges. A rose bush should be planted near the gazebo in order to enjoy in moments of relaxation not only the spectacular appearance of the flowering plant, but also its delightful aroma. Perennial buds and flowers are used for cutting.
