Rose Pastella

Plants with flowers of delicate, pastel shades are especially appropriate in a garden that is designed in a classic or romantic style. An excellent example of such a culture is the Pastella rose variety. It has a high decorative appearance and good health.

History of creation and description of the variety

Pastella is another magnificent creation of breeders working in the German nursery Tantau. The delicate beauty was released relatively recently - in the 2004th year. The culture's registration name is Tan98130. In the year of its appearance, the variety received the Golden Rose award at an exhibition in the city of Baden-Baden.

The decorative perennial belongs to the floribunda group. It is a short bush (40-70 cm) with branchy shoots covered with dense, rich green foliage, and grows in width by a maximum of 0.4 meters. Due to its small size, the crop looks very compact and neat. The dense foliage of the shrub makes its crown quite dense.

Flowers on the plant develop in racemose inflorescences of 3-5 pieces. They are average in size, reaching 6-9 cm in diameter. The shape of the flower is cup-shaped or vase-shaped. At the very beginning of the dissolution, the buds are painted in a creamy white color, then they acquire a delicate pink tint. At the end of the flowering phase, their color becomes almost snow-white. But sometimes a pink border may appear along the edges of the rose petals, especially with a sharp change in weather conditions.

Pastella is a multi-flowering variety. Densely double flowers stay on the bush for a long time. The flowering of a noble culture is distinguished by its splendor. Delicate inflorescences smell good. Their aroma is persistent, intense, with spicy notes.

The German beauty is highly resistant to diseases - primarily black spot and powdery mildew. Its luxurious flowers are not afraid of rain at all. With prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, burns form on the delicate Pastella petals. The maximum low air temperature that the plant can withstand in winter is -23 ° C. Therefore, when growing a flower in central Russia and, especially, in the Urals and Siberia, he needs a good shelter for the winter.

Features of agricultural technology

For the rose, it is important to choose a place protected from the bright midday sun on summer days. In addition, there should be no cold air stagnation in the area with ornamental shrubs. For this reason, it is better not to place the plant in an open space and in a lowland, where groundwater is close to the surface of the soil.

The variety grows well and develops on fertile, fresh soils with a slightly acidic reaction and good air and water permeability. Use black soil for the cultivation of a beautiful rose, if possible. However, loamy soil enriched with humus and peat is also suitable for a delicate beauty. Before planting Pastella, the soil in the selected area should be well and deeply dug up. Then you need to make a hole about 60 cm deep. At the bottom of the planting pit, you need to lay a layer of drainage material, then add organic fertilizer and pour part of the prepared soil. When you lower the seedling into the hole and spread the roots, all that remains is to fill them with the remaining soil and water the plant abundantly.

It is imperative to look after a perennial, although it is not too capricious in this regard. The plant should be watered 1-2 times a week, in the morning or evening, after sunset, using soft water at room temperature. When carrying out this procedure, avoid getting moisture on the foliage and shoots of the crop.In the spring, feed the rose with nitrogen fertilizer. In the period of bud setting and flowering, give preference to mineral concentrates. After Pastella has lost all its flowers, add phosphorus-potassium fertilizer to the soil under the culture.

Weeding and loosening are also important measures for the care of the Pastela. The first is carried out as weeds appear in the zone of the trunk circle, the second is carried out after each watering. It is also a good idea to mulch the soil under the bushes. This is done to preserve moisture in the soil for a longer period and, accordingly, to reduce the frequency of watering. Dry grass can play the role of mulch. During the summer, it is recommended to regularly remove all faded inflorescences from the plant. This is necessary to stimulate the formation of new buds. In the spring and autumn, pruning is carried out. In the first case, all non-wintered shoots are removed, in the second - diseased and dry stems. In addition, in the fall, strong branches are shortened on the plant, and the bush itself is covered with earth and covered with spruce branches.

For the prevention of insect pests, it is advisable to spray the rose with an insecticide solution several times per season. It does not hurt to periodically process it with a fungicidal preparation in order to further reduce the likelihood of fungal diseases on the bush.

Use cases

Pastella will decorate a rose garden and an ordinary flower garden. It can be planted along the fence, near the facade of the house, near the gazebo. But it will be especially successful to place this floribunda in borders, mixborders, in flower beds - due to its compact size. The culture is good in group, as well as in mixed compositions. The variety goes well with lavender, gypsophila, sage, ornamental white onions, silver wormwood, woolly purse, sheep, cuffs, hosts, katran, astrantia, geyhera. Suitable as neighbors for Pastella petunias, foxglove, lobelia, reedweed, molinia, Chinese miscanthus, spartina, mullein, silver cenaria. Our heroine looks very impressive in compositions with plants that have piercing blue, purple-red, blue and yellow inflorescences. The rose also goes well with miniature conifers: boxwood, thuja, dwarf pine. The classic partners for a delicious floribunda are primrose, delphinium, irises, phlox, clematis, forget-me-nots, lobularia, alissum. As for the group plantings of a beauty with creamy pink flowers, such compositions will look best against the background of a bright green lawn.
