Plants of leaf type, medium-sized, from semi-erect to spreading. Leaves are light green in color, medium to large. Leafiness of medium density. The flowers are white. Plants have an accelerated growth rate at the initial stage of the growing season.

Riviera potatoes are suitable for growing under the film and getting very early products. In the southern regions, two crops can be obtained in one season. Pre-germination of tubers is recommended before planting. Planting is best done in warm soil. Also, before planting, it is recommended to process the seed from rhizoctonia.

Bushes can be started to dig up already on the 45th day from the emergence of shoots. Full ripening occurs 80 days after planting the seed in the ground. As a rule, potatoes do not have time to bloom before the harvest is dug.

The yield on the 45th day after the emergence of full shoots (the first digging) is 134 - 225 c / ha, which is 42 - 76 c / ha higher than the yield of the standards Bryansk early, Zhukovsky early; on the 55th day (second digging) - 273 - 312 c / ha, which is 57 - 124 c / ha higher than the yield of the Zhukovsky early standard. The maximum yield is 465 c / ha, which is 177 c / ha higher than the indicators of the Zhukovsky early standard (data for the Vladimir region). Marketability 80 - 96%. Keeping quality 94%.

Riviera potatoes are characterized by resistance to the causative agent of potato cancer (pathotype 1), banded mosaic, golden potato cyst nematode and viruses (Yn, Yntn). Susceptible to common scab, as well as the causative agent of late blight (tops and tubers), but quickly accumulates a marketable crop before the onset of this disease. It also shows heat resistance and resistance to mechanical damage (the pulp does not darken from impacts). Blackleg resistance is average. If there is a bear on the site, then from several varieties she will choose this one.

The dormant period of the tubers is quite long - they can be stored for a long time at a temperature of 4 ° C. To obtain a large yield, it is recommended to apply nitrogen slightly above the norm. But, on the other hand, to ensure good storage of tubers, it is necessary not to overfeed the plants with nitrogen fertilizers.

The value of the Riviera variety: resistance to viral diseases, stress resistance, high yield, good taste.

Of the very early varieties of potatoes, which we traditionally call magpies, the Riviera is the most delicious. Even the smallest nodules-peas, which did not have time to gain starchiness, have a sweetish taste and are especially good when fried. To get marketable tubers as early as possible, we begin to germinate in January, first soaking in a solution with a growth stimulator and laying out in the light. In this way, the sprouts do not stretch. Plump and strong, they have time to acquire roots before disembarkation. Our soils are sandy, but the Riviera produces consistently 7 - 9 flat tubers from each stem. At 45 - 50 days from the emergence of sprouts, they are already the size of a hen's egg and are quite ready for sale.

I can't say anything bad about this potato - the presentation is excellent, it is stored well, the tubers are even. Very tasty young, almost sweet. But there is no grain in it, so pleasant in the first courses. It is soft but not crumbly. Suitable for frying, for salads.
As for cultivation, it is easy with it - it is resistant to diseases, does not require abundant watering. Tubers grow compactly under the bush - it is convenient to dig up. In a word, the variety is good, you just need to know for what purposes to grow. But the main plus is that it is almost the earliest.
