Tomato variety Balcony miracle

Small tomatoes were not invented for fun. These varieties are able not only to decorate a windowsill or a loggia, they will also provide a crop. For ripe tomatoes, you do not need to go to the supermarket or go to the dacha, you just went out onto the balcony and picked as many as needed. This is what provides such popularity to undersized species for indoor breeding. But the Balkonnoye miracle variety can be called the undoubted leader among the rest. For its creation, thanks to the German breeders from the company Saatzucht Quedlinburg GMBH. It was they who in 1996 became the applicants of this amazing novelty. A year later, the tomato was included in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation in all regions of Russia. Great for growing in small containers on balconies and outdoors. Not a hybrid.

Description

The plant is determinate, only 30 - 40 cm high, and no more than 50 cm. At the same time, it has a strong low stem. The crown is round, well leafy. The leaves are small, alternate, dark green, medium-cropped. The flowers are yellow, the inflorescences are intermediate. The first fruit cluster in the variety is formed very low, approximately at the level of the 4th leaf. The stem and peduncles of the Balcony Miracle are slightly pubescent.

The fruits are small, beautiful, rounded, smooth or slightly ribbed. They are sometimes called large cherries. On plants grown in a container, tomatoes weighing 10 - 20 grams ripen; in open ground, larger tomatoes can form - from 30 to 50 grams. The skin of tomatoes is smooth, shiny. The pulp is moderately dense, juicy. During ripeness, the fruit turns into an intense red color. The taste is excellent, the sweet pulp is very popular with children.

Characteristics

  • The balcony miracle is an ultra-early ripening culture, the period from emergence to ripening takes only 85 - 100 days;
  • the undersized variety has a high fruit set and gives a generous harvest, up to 2 kg of tomatoes can be harvested from a bush;
  • the variety has good immunity, there is a high resistance to late blight;
  • the plasticity of the plant helps it adapt to adverse weather conditions;
  • a tomato copes well with a lack of light, the main thing is that the sun illuminates the growing area for at least 3 hours a day;
  • the transportation possibilities of the Balcony Miracle are very limited, however, as well as the long-term storage of the freshly harvested crop;
  • but the way of using the fruits is universal. In addition to being consumed in their natural form, small-fruited tomatoes are perfectly canned and frozen.

Agrotechnics

The preferred growing method is seedling. The seeding depth is 1 - 2 cm. Sowing is carried out about 2 months before planting in a permanent place. Picking - after the appearance of 2 real leaves. If the cultivation of the variety will take place in the open field, then 6 - 8 plants are planted per 1 square meter. If the intended breeding site is a loggia or a windowsill, then the seed can be sown at any time, since in this case the Balcony Miracle is suitable for year-round use. More about growing tomatoes on the windowsill you can find out in one of our articles.

Leaving is uncomplicated. Bushes need timely watering, on average, once a week. The water for humidification should be at room temperature. Given the early maturity of the tomato, it does not need intensive feeding. There are enough of those nutrients that are in the universal soil. If you decide to fertilize, then formulations with a minimum nitrogen content are preferred. There is no need to do it, but if the bush is overloaded with crops, it should be tied to a support.

The balcony miracle is an excellent option for those who do not have a summer cottage or vegetable garden, or, due to workload, cannot visit their site often. You can get an excellent quality product throughout the year without leaving your home.The unpretentiousness of the variety, minimal care, excellent taste, and most importantly, the apartment will be clean and tidy, because elegant bushes can easily fit in neat flowerpots. Another bonus is the ability to self-collect the seed.

I love small-fruited tomatoes. She grew several varieties, among them the "Balcony Miracle". Grown in the winter on a windowsill, in the summer on an open balcony in a large pot and in a garden in the open field. On the windowsill in winter without lighting, I still had a bush, the fruits were small, sweet, but not much. On the balcony in summer, the tomatoes were better and there were more fruits, and the bush was compact. Most of all I liked planting in the garden, the bush is strewn with tomatoes and they are much larger than that of a bush growing in a pot. I liked the variety - it is unpretentious, looks decorative, it can be planted as a curb. Tomatoes were mostly eaten fresh, but I also made a couple of jars pickled, they turn out delicious and look cute.

The first time I saw this variety of tomato in the office, at my work, on the windowsill among the pots of flowers. Someone brought it from home for the sake of experiment. We watched what the whole team would get. It turned out not quite what was expected. The pot in which the seedling was planted was small, the illumination on the windowsill was weak, so the bush grew weak and gave only two tomatoes. But I decided to continue the experiment and try to grow this variety at home. Initially, I decided that it was not worth trying to grow it in winter, as additional lighting would be required, so I sown, like other tomatoes, in March. I prepared large enough pots for them, with a capacity of eight liters each. Filled with garden soil in half with humus. I added a little ash. When it became quite warm, I took it out into the yard to a sunny place. And she planted a few bushes in a greenhouse between tall tomatoes. It was these bushes that gave the best harvest! And those that were in pots turned out to be smaller and in smaller quantities. Still, like any plant, they love warmth and space for the root system! And the taste is good, non-acidic. I used it no longer for food, but for canning in jars along with cucumbers.

My mother began to grow such tomatoes at home and it turned out a lot of seedlings. I planted the remains of the seedlings in a greenhouse, in the farthest corner. It was a disaster, in a good way. From 4 bushes, I collected 2.5 kilograms per week. We ate them fresh (very sweet, tasty), and ate in salads, and made a couple of pickled jars, and in our own juice too.
A good variety, kids will love these tomatoes, either at home or in the country.

She grew different varieties of small-fruited tomatoes, including this one. I didn’t try to get the harvest at home, because I live in my own house and prefer to plant tomatoes on the street. For planting in open ground, I sow seeds in the second half of March. Germination is excellent, never let down, so I take 3-5 seeds and choose 2-3 strong plants from them when picking. I plant it in the ground in the 20th of May without shelter, although all neighbors plant it later - they are afraid of late frosts. I prefer to plant at this time, because there is no heat yet and the plants take root better. The variety tolerates transplantation and unfavorable weather well.Once they froze, but they went well from the root and gave 3 stems instead of one. I don't feed it with anything, during the season I water it with an infusion of grass with the addition of chicken droppings 1-2 times. I rarely water it - 2-3 times a month. Due to rare watering, especially if the weather is hot, the fruits crack. They start to blush at the end of July. The bush grows on average 70 cm, all covered with clusters of small tomatoes. The fruit tastes sweet, but the skin is thick. Bushes delight with fresh fruits until October. Phytophthora never noticed them. I don't use this variety for preparations and salads, I don't even collect it from a bush. It is very pleasant to eat a handful of small tomatoes while passing by.
