Tomato variety Wonder of the earth
Tomato salad varieties are always highly prized for their fleshy pulp and sweet taste. Such tomatoes can, as they say, spread on bread - an excellent sandwich will turn out. Work on the creation of new varieties of salad use is ongoing, so more and more new varieties are offered to connoisseurs. Let's talk about one of them. This tomato was named the Miracle of the Earth for a reason, it is really unusually good - juicy, tasty, beautiful. It was created by a breeder from Novosibirsk V.N. Dederko. The application for registration was filed in 2004, the tomato was entered into the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation in 2006 with admission to cultivation in all regions. Recommended for outdoor cultivation on personal subsidiary plots. But in cool regions, the culture is successfully grown under film shelters and in greenhouses.
Due to the great popularity of the described variety, varieties with similar names appeared on sale New Wonder of the Earth, Wonder of the Ukrainian Land
Description
The plant in the State Register is described as determinant, that is, with limited growth. But, according to gardeners, a tomato grows above 1 meter in the open field and can grow more than 2 meters indoors. The root system of the variety is very well developed. The stem is not very powerful, the internodes are medium, the foliage is moderate. The leaf is simple, green in color, the arrangement is alternate, the size of the leaf plate is medium. The flowers are small, yellow, collected in intermediate-type inflorescences. The peduncle is articulated. The trunk and shoots are pubescent.
The fruits of the Miracle of the Earth are rounded, slightly flattened. When unripe, they are light green with a dark spot at the stalk. A ripe tomato becomes raspberry-colored, without a spot. The pulp is very fleshy, tender and juicy, of excellent taste. There are 4 or more seed chambers, but they are small in size, and the seeds are small, in insignificant quantities. The average weight of the fetus, according to the State Register, is 380 grams, according to the originator - 700 grams and even 1 kg. But many gardeners, not without pride, talk about specimens weighing more than a kilogram.
Variety characteristics
- The miracle of the earth is a mid-season tomato. The period from seed germination to the beginning of ripening lasts 100 - 110 days;
- according to the State Register, the yield of marketable fruits under a film cover is 13.9 kg per 1 square meter;
- the harvest is tied and ripens until the very cold;
- the variety has excellent immunity to fungal diseases, is resistant to pests;
- the adaptability of the plant is high, the harvest is tied in any weather, it ripens even in the cold and rainy Siberian summer, is not afraid of the heat;
- ripe tomatoes can crack from high humidity, corking of the top can also be observed;
- the transportability of the crop is low, as well as keeping quality. It is advisable to immediately use the ripe fruit for food or put it into processing;
- the method of use is salad, but the fleshy Wonder of the Earth tomatoes are suitable for the manufacture of tomato products.
Agrotechnics
The variety is grown in seedlings. Seeds are sown so that the planted seedlings are 50 - 60 days old. Seed preparation and seedling cultivation are carried out as usual. Planting density - 3 bushes per 1 square meter.
Cultivation of a culture has some nuances. After planting, the bush is tied to a support or on a trellis. They are formed into 1 or 2 stems, sometimes in 3. But the more stems remain on the plant, the less the weight of the tomatoes. Watering is moderate, in waterlogged soil, the thin skin of the fruit may crack. Top dressing should be done without fanaticism. The variety is prone to fattening when overfeeding. If the culture is grown in regions with short and cool summers, then experienced gardeners help the plant to speed up the ripening process of the set tomatoes. For this it is necessary to cut off the first fruit cluster.
An unusual tomato Wonder of the Earth can be called very undemanding to care for, so even an inexperienced gardener can grow it. A crop with a strong root system will grow well on all types of soil and tolerate short-term drought. Even a slight partial shade is not scary to her. Well, the good yield of the variety and the excellent taste of the fruits will make you feel like a real tomato grower.
I didn't really like the Miracle of the Earth. The seedlings grow strong and hardy, adult plants also have excellent immunity, the yield is high (of course, I pinched them and pinched them), and the taste of the tomatoes is normal if the weather is sunny, but the color of the fruits pumped up - some of them are pale and not appetizing, and the consistency of the pulp is not very pleasant (some kind of jelly), the tomatoes do not lie perfectly - you have to use it immediately after harvesting. Maybe it's just me and this is a sign of improper care or illness?
