Sevryuga tomato variety

Sometimes, due to the very strong similarity in appearance, confusion arises in the names of tomato varieties. Such a story happened with Sevryuga, which many call Pudovik. If you get acquainted with the data of the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation, you can make sure that Pudovik is present in the list of crops that have passed variety testing, but Sevryuga is not in it. Nevertheless, the described variety is very popular with gardeners, it is grown in all regions of Russia in open and protected ground. Not a hybrid.

Description

The culture is declared as determinant, with a height of 80 cm to 1.5 meters. Although there are gardeners who claim that in a greenhouse a plant can exceed 2.5 meters. Moderate branching, stems are thin, not strong. Leaves are green, long-petiolate, regular in shape. The foliage of the bush is medium. The inflorescences of the variety are simple, the stalk is articulated.

Sevryuga fruits are round-heart-shaped (in contrast to the heart-shaped Pudovik) or flat-round, with a ribbed surface, rather large in size - from 300 to 500 grams. But the originators claim that with proper care, it is possible to grow a kilogram or one and a half kilogram specimen. The tomato skin is glossy, not very thick. An unripe tomato of light green color, with a faint spot at the stalk. At the stage of ripeness, the color becomes red-crimson. The pulp is very fleshy, juicy, of moderate density, sweet. There are more than 4 seed chambers, but they are small, located closer to the wall of the fruit. By the quality of the pulp, the variety can be attributed to beefs. The taste is excellent.

Characteristics

  • Ripening period is average. From the moment of emergence to the beginning of ripening, 110 - 115 days pass;
  • seed producers promise yields of up to 5 kg per plant;
  • the first tomatoes ripen in July, the fruiting period lasts almost until October;
  • tomato is resistant to pathogens and pests;
  • at high humidity, the skin of the fruit often cracks;
  • Sevryuga has good resistance to cold weather, which is what makes the variety promising for cultivation in the Siberian region;
  • in extreme heat, inflorescences may not form or fall off;

  • transportability of fruits, as well as keeping quality, is low. The harvested crop must be quickly used for food or processed;
  • the way of using tomatoes is salad, but can be processed into tomato products.

Agrotechnics

In different regions, it is best to grow tomatoes through seedlings. Sevryuga seeds are sown in March. Planting in the ground is carried out when the seedlings are 60 days old. Planting density - 3 bushes per 1 square meter. But many gardeners plant 2 plants in one hole at once. As the bushes grow, they must be tied up, otherwise the stems will not withstand the load and will fall. They form less often in 1 stem, more often in 2 - 4. The culture is very responsive to watering and feeding. But with waterlogging, especially in protected ground, the skin of the fruit may crack.

Sevruga has won respect for its ease of cultivation, which does not prevent it from showing excellent yields. The only drawback of the variety is the unsuitability of tomatoes for whole-fruit canning.

Oh, I agree - there are so many sellers and names (each gives the variety its own name).I am well acquainted with this variety under the name “Pudovik” and “Kupola”, now I will also know it as “Sevryuga”. Basically, I don't care what to call this tomato, since I really like it. Tomatoes are always large, fleshy and tasty. The yield is decent, but I always normalize the number of fruits - after the third hand, I always pinch. The plant is very responsive to rare but abundant watering and is very fond of potash fertilizing (the pulp becomes "sugar").
