Description

The plant is indeterminate, tall, 1.2 - 1.5 meters high. The stem type means a strong stem. The internodes are not too long. Shoot-forming ability and leafiness are average. Tomato leaves are of the usual type, not very large, dark green, with a slightly corrugated surface. The inflorescence is simple. In one fruit cluster of the Mushroom Baskets, about 3 - 4 ovaries are formed.

The fruits of the variety have an unusual, amazing shape - flat-round and strongly ribbed. They seem to be made up of separate lobules. Unripe fruit is green in color, with a dark green spot at the stalk. When ripe, it acquires a rich pink or pink-crimson color. The pulp is of medium density, very fleshy, tender, moderately juicy, when cut, the juice is almost not released. The walls are thick. There are many seed chambers, 6 or more, but they are small. Hollow inner chambers are common. A tomato cut into circles looks very beautiful and decorative, somewhat reminiscent of a multi-petal openwork flower. The Mushroom Basket tastes good, real tomato, balanced in sweetness and acidity. The average weight, according to the State Register, is 250 grams, the originators indicate 250 - 350 grams. Gardeners confirm the declared weight, and some talk about larger-fruited specimens of 500 - 600 grams. The largest tomatoes ripen on the lower clusters. But gardeners praise the variety for the fact that even on medium fruit clusters, tomatoes are in no way inferior in weight to the lower ones. Only at the very top can the fruits have a smaller mass.

Characteristics

• Mushroom basket belongs to late-ripening varieties. Ripening occurs approximately on the 115th day after full shoots appear. Although the ripening period is often adjusted by the weather conditions of the regions;
• yield, according to the State Register, 6.3 kg per 1 square meter. Up to 3 kg (and even a little more) are removed from one plant;
• the originators do not mention the immunity of the variety. But tomato growers who have grown the culture argue that the plant is very resistant to major diseases and does not cause trouble during the growing season. True, in cold regions, where the summer is short and cold, for a late-ripening variety, the threat of phytophthora may arise due to the difference in day and night temperatures;
• tomatoes collected at the stage of blanche ripeness are perfectly ripened at home;
• another plus - tomatoes do not crack;
• many complain about the green shoulders of the Mushroom Basket fruits. They can remain during the period of technical ripeness. But at the stage of consumer ripeness they disappear completely;
• transportability is average, strongly protruding ribs can be crumpled during transportation. But the harvest is stored, according to gardeners, well and during storage the taste of tomatoes improves;
• way of consumption - salad. Tomatoes are best used in their natural form - for salads, for decorating dishes or sandwiches, stuffing. Suitable for processing into tomato products, however, it is a pity to translate such beauty into sauces. But the preservation of them turns out to be unsuccessful, due to the presence of voids in the pulp.

Agrotechnics

Evaluating the quality of seeds, many indicate excellent germination. It is better to grow a Mushroom Basket in a seedling way. It is advisable to determine the time of sowing seeds independently, so that by the time of transplanting the seedlings are about 50 - 60 days.Picking and hardening of seedlings are mandatory procedures. Depending on the climate of the regions, the tomato is grown outdoors or indoors. The recommended planting density is 3 - 4 bushes per 1 square meter. Despite the variety belonging to the standard type, the plants must be tied to a trellis or support. During the ripening period, it is also advisable to tie up the fruit brushes so that a break does not occur under the weight of heavy fruits. In order for the variety to be able to show the best result, the plant is formed into 1 or 2 stems. Agrotechnology is simple, but it must be done. Watering should be moderate but sufficient. Especially strictly you will have to control the soil in the greenhouse so that waterlogging does not occur. Top dressing is required, the plant is equally responsive to mineral fertilizers and organic matter. And, of course, after moistening, loosening must be carried out in order to destroy the soil crust.

The mushroom basket is a very interesting and highly decorative variety. Ripe bright tomatoes look like toys on the bush. Most lovers of unusual and tasty tomatoes have included a variety in their collection, because you can collect the seeds yourself. The variety fell in love with its simple agricultural technology, good yield and disease resistance. True, strongly ribbed fruits will have to be thoroughly washed before use, because dust and dirt can accumulate in the folds between the ribs.
