Cherry variety Molodezhnaya
Molodezhnaya - a variety of ordinary cherry with fruits of medium ripening. Bred at the All-Russian Institute of Selection and Technology of Horticulture and Nursery (FGBNU VSTISP, Moscow) through crossing of 2 varieties - Vladimirskaya x Lyubskaya. Authors of the variety: Kh.D. Enikeev, S.N. Satarova.
Since 1993, this cherry has been regionalized in the Central Region.
Trees or bushes of average or below average height (up to 2.0 - 2.5 m), weakly growing, with a rounded, slightly drooping crown. Leaves are medium in size, bright green in color. The edges of the lamina are crenate serrated. Fruits are tied for the most part on last year's growths and much less often on bouquet branches.
The berries of the Molodezhnaya cherry are large (average weight 4.5 grams), oval in shape, painted in a maroon color (when fully ripe). The pulp is dense, juicy, with a rich pleasant aroma, sweet and sour dessert taste. The juice is dark red. The seeds are medium in size and can be easily separated from the pulp. A variety of universal use: it is used fresh, is widely used for processing, in the preparation of desserts (jams, marshmallows, preserves, compotes, fruit wines, juices). The transportability of the berries is good.
Fruit ripening occurs in the second half of July (from 20th to 25th day). The rate of early maturity of the variety is average (fruiting from 4 to 5 years), the level of productivity is high. Average yield - 10 - 12 kg / tree or 8 - 10 t / ha. Fruiting is annual. Cherry is self-fertile (pollinated with its own pollen).
The level of winter hardiness of the variety is above average (on a par with Vladimirskaya). Flower buds and wood are moderately frost-resistant. Drought resistance is high enough. The level of resistance to the most dangerous fungal diseases (moniliosis, coccomycosis) is average: in a warm, humid summer, the lesion reaches 2 - 3 points.
Cherry Molodezhnaya is ranked among the most reliable Moscow varieties with high yields of good quality fruits.
The main disadvantage of the variety: average resistance to fungal diseases.
