Apple variety Cherished

This apple variety was bred at the M.A. Lisavenko. The work was carried out by five talented breeders of the Siberian Research Institute: Lisavenko M.A., Zhebrovskaya L.Yu., Kornienko T.F., Kalinina I.P. and Grankina Z.A.

Variety Zavetnoye was obtained by crossing apple trees "Autumn Joy" and "Melba"In 1958. Today these fruit trees are widely grown in the gardens of Western Siberia. They are valued for their cold resistance, good immunity to diseases, pests, and more.

Fruit

The size of the apples is small. Weight - about 60 g, round shape. The skin is smooth, with a white tinge and a bright red blush covering most of the apple. The view is appetizing and beautiful.

The fruit has a very dense, juicy and crunchy flesh. The taste is sweet and sour, with hints of strawberry. The aroma is weak.

Vitamin content (per 100 g of edible part): E - 0.63 mg, C - 16 mg, B6 - 0.08 mg, B2 - 0.02 mg, B1 - 0.03 mg, carotene - 0.03 mg. Biotin - 0.30 mcg. Folic acid - 2 mcg.

Also apples contain tannins and dyes, organic acids, sugars, pectin substances, potassium salts and tannin.

Trees

Apple trees of the Zavetnoye variety grow low. Their crown is not dense, has a rounded shape. The bark is smooth with a dark brown tint. Branches with many ringlets and spears extend almost perpendicularly from the trunk. Shoots are thin and pubescent.

Leaves are oblong, pointed. The leaf surface is dark green, matte and wrinkled. The leaf plate is concave inward, the veins are hardly noticeable.

Fruits are formed on ringlets and fruit twigs. The flowers are white, small in size and have a mild odor.

Application

Apples of the Zavetnoye variety are consumed fresh, processed into juice, canned, and used to prepare various dishes.

Advantages

Treasured - a variety of early winter ripening period, universal purpose. Its main valuable qualities:

- Rapid entry into fruiting (at the age of 4 years). Apple trees produce a crop every year. Even old trees bear fruit.

- An attractive appearance of fruits that perfectly withstand long-term storage without creating special conditions (up to 150 days).

Insufficiently high frost resistance. In very harsh winters, trees freeze slightly.
