Eggplant variety Bibo (F1)

What the breeders did not come up with. For example, they created Bibo - an eggplant with an unusual white skin color. In the garden, this vegetable looks very unusual, but it is in great demand among gardeners. The applicants are the Dutch company Monsanto. Since 2008, the variety has been included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. Suitable for growing throughout Russia. Recommended for personal subsidiary plots. It belongs to hybrids, therefore it is labeled F1.

Description

Plants are semi-sprawling, they look powerful, but compact. Low to medium height, usually about 85 cm. The stem is not thick, slightly pubescent, green, with minor traces of anthocyanin coloration. The leaf is medium in size, green in color, with a slight waviness along the edge. Veins are clearly defined on the surface of the plate. The internodes are short, which facilitates the formation of more ovaries. The calyx is studded with frequent spines. The flower is small, purple. Up to 15 ovaries can form on one plant.

The fruit of the Bibo is oval-conical, medium to large in size. The shape and size are aligned. It is recommended to shoot eggplants 18 cm long and 8 cm in diameter. Weight is from 190 to 210 grams, but there are also heavier ones - 300 - 400 grams. The skin is dense, but thin, delicate and elastic, low gloss, painted in a milky white color.

White pearl-colored pulp. Very dense, tender, does not contain bitterness. The palatability is noted as outstanding.

Characteristics

  • The variety is early maturing, it takes 100, sometimes 120 days from germination to harvest, depending on weather conditions;
  • the yield of marketable products is high - 4.8 kg / square meter;
  • fast-growing eggplant;
  • plastic, able to form ovaries in any, even extreme conditions. Therefore, Bibo can be grown in open and closed ground;
  • highly resistant to tobacco mosaic virus and fusarium;
  • excellent transportability;
  • harvested fruits can be stored for a long time;
  • the culture is great for all types of culinary processing and preparation.

Agrotechnics

The variety is best grown in seedlings, but without picking, to get the eggplant harvest as early as possible. Seedlings are planted in soil at a stable temperature of 14-15 ° C. In terms of time, this is May - June. You need to start growing seedlings about 2 months before planting in the ground (February - March). In cool regions, planted plants can be covered with foil for the adaptation period. During the period of formation and ripening of fruits, the plant must be tied to a support.

Seeding depth - 1.5 - 2 cm. Planting scheme - row spacing of about 60 - 65 cm, distance between plants in a row 30 - 35 cm. From 4 to 6 specimens can be planted per 1 square meter. Thickened planting will lead to a decrease in yield. The rest of the care involves standard procedures.

Bibo is an excellent eggplant for growing in any climatic conditions, as it grows equally well in open ground and in greenhouses. The yield is stable and high, the method of use is universal. In care, the variety is undemanding and unpretentious, as it tolerates temperature extremes and is resistant to diseases.

The only drawback is that the seeds collected from the hybrid will not have the same qualities as the previous ones. Therefore, planting material will have to be bought every year.

These eggplants gradually replaced the traditional purple ones from our garden. Bibo fruit contains practically no bitterness and is ideal for harvesting. Yes, and the skin does not paint my hands when I clean a vegetable - this is important when you need to prepare a couple of kilograms for preservation at once.
Fruiting in our region until frost. Does not require special care and feeding. However, immediately after flowering, we do 1 - 2 feeding with a mullein. After such a procedure, the plant begins to grow and bear fruit so powerfully that it does not care about any pests, and most of all the Colorado potato beetle annoys. Overripe fruits acquire a bright lemon hue, so you need to pick eggplants focusing on the milky color.

I love eggplant, this is probably my weakness. We plant this variety every year. Bears a lot of fruit. When frying, the skin is soft, almost imperceptible. The shape of the fruit is more like a round one, which is great for lovers of eggplant with garlic. Of course, we plant an ordinary Diamond anyway, probably because we are used to it. But in terms of yield, it is much better than ordinary blue eggplants. And most importantly, they planted both in the shade and in the sun. There were no difficulties in seedlings either. It takes root so much that it is difficult to pull it out of the ground in autumn. Excellent for preservation too. They made a preparation from eggplants, not a single jar was left.
