The value of any variety is determined by the degree of interest in it. For example, the Golden Hectare cabbage for almost 80 years has enjoyed constant success among gardeners not only in Russia, but also in Moldova and Ukraine. This record holder was born in 1938 at the V.I. N.I. Vavilov. In 1943 it was included in the State Register. There are many regions of admission - North, North-West, Central, Central Black Earth, Volgo-Vyatka, Nizhnevolzhsky, Middle Volga, Ural, East Siberian, Far Eastern.

Often on a bag of seeds there is an inscription Golden hectare 1432. This is not another, but the same variety described. It's just that it was originally called that, and over time, many manufacturers of planting material shortened its name.

Description

A head of cabbage is round, small or medium in size, weighing 1.6 - 3.3 kg. The leaf rosette is semi-raised, compact, with a circumference of 56 - 77 cm. The leaf is solid, sessile, with a short petiole. Small in size, round or oval, gray-green in color with a slight waxy coating. The surface is smooth or slightly wrinkled, the edge is smooth or slightly wavy. The density is average. The inner stump is small. On the cut, the cabbage head is white-green. The outer stump is short and thick, strongly leafy. The root system is pivotal, penetrating to a depth of at least 40 cm.

Characteristic

The described cabbage received its name for its numerous positive qualities, because among the early subspecies it has no equal.

  • The culture is medium early. The period from germination to technical ripeness is 100 - 110 days.
  • Heads of cabbage ripen actively and almost simultaneously. Marketable yield reaches 500 - 850 c / ha, which is very pleasing, since early ripening varieties do not differ in good performance in this regard.
  • The output of marketable products is very high - from 90 to 99%.
  • Color resistance is above average.
  • A golden hectare is highly resistant to many diseases, but more susceptible to cabbage keel.
  • Despite the fact that the head of cabbage is not dense enough, it is not prone to cracking.
  • A big plus of the variety is drought resistance and the ability to tolerate small frosts.
  • The taste is very good.
  • The purpose is varied - for fresh consumption, stewing, fermentation.
  • For early cabbage, it has good keeping quality and good transportability.

Features of agricultural technology

The variety prefers light areas with loamy soil rich in humus. But chernozems, unfortunately, are not suitable. It can be planted with seeds or seedlings. The second method is more preferable, since the crop ripens earlier. Seeds are sown in late April - early May. Seedlings are planted at the age of 35 - 40 days, after hardening it. Cabbage loves watering, it is carried out twice a week, although it can spend a short period without moisture. They are fed three times a season using a mixture of nitrogen-containing and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. Otherwise, the care will not take much time, the main thing is to regularly loosen the beds and keep them clean. For 1 - 2 weeks before the start of harvesting, you need to completely stop watering. To prevent disease and pest infestation, preventive treatments are carried out.

What is the popularity of the variety?

The golden hectare rightfully enjoys the well-deserved attention of gardeners. It is unpretentious, requires standard care, but at the same time pleases with a stable yield. The hostesses appreciated the taste and the ability to cook many healthy dishes from the variety. Even storage, albeit for a short time, can be attributed to the advantages of cabbage, because many other early ripening species are not stored at all.
