Strawberry variety Symphony
Symphony is a non-repairable variety of garden strawberries (strawberries) of medium late ripening, dessert use. It was bred in Scotland in 1979 by crossing the Rhapsody and Holiday... It is appreciated for its excellent taste, good yield, and productive longevity. Suitable for growing on a personal garden plot and in small-scale farms.
The plant is powerful, multi-track, abundantly leafy. The formation is average. Leaves are tough, dark green in color. The flowers are white, bisexual. Strawberry flower stalks are powerful, multi-flowered, with medium pubescence, spreading, are formed in abundant quantities. Symphony can sometimes show signs of renovation under favorable weather conditions, but the second wave of fruiting will not give good results.
The berries of the variety are medium and large in size, of the correct conical shape, are distinguished by their uniformity. The skin is bright red, shiny. Achenes are small, yellow, shallowly depressed. The pulp is evenly colored bright red, dense, juicy, with a fleshy consistency, aromatic. At the stage of technical ripeness, the tip of the fruit has a greenish color; when fully ripe, the entire berry turns red. The fruits are easily separated from the stalk, which has a positive effect on the speed of collection.
The taste of strawberries is excellent, the berries are sweet, with a slight hint of sourness, a true dessert taste. The fruits of the Symphony are universal in use, suitable for any processing and freezing, they are wonderful fresh. The berries perfectly tolerate transportation and short-term storage, have a spectacular presentation, so our heroine is suitable for growing commercially.
The average weight of fruits in the season is about 20-25 grams; at the first harvest, specimens weighing up to 40 grams can be observed. Fruiting of strawberries is long, rather stable, the berries are slightly smaller by the end of the season. Our heroine ripens about a week later Elsants, on a par with Zenga Zenganoy... The yield of the variety is not outstanding - up to 700 grams of berries per bush, on average, the indicator fluctuates around the mark of 500 grams of fruits per plant.
The variety is resistant to gray rot and verticillary wilt; the strawberry mite bypasses it. However, this does not mean that plants do not need timely preventive treatments. Strawberries have good winter hardiness, winters successfully in central Russia under cover, in the northern regions freezing is possible during especially frosty periods. Heat resistance and drought resistance are also good, but it is highly desirable to provide plants with regular watering and shading.
There are no special nuances in the agricultural technology of the Symphony, care for it is quite standard, it consists in timely watering, fertilizing, weeding, loosening the soil, as well as preventive treatments against diseases and pests. One of the advantages of the variety is that it is a long-liver, it can bear fruit well for about 5 years without rejuvenation. Of the cultivation features, only one point can be distinguished - when planting seedlings, the size of the plants must be taken into account, the distance between the bushes should be at least 30 cm, ideally 40-45 cm.
Symphony is a decent variety that deserves a spot on your lot. She is quite unpretentious, does not require much attention to herself, and in return gives a good tasty harvest. Of course, these strawberries are not as productive as many popular modern varieties, but they clearly deserve attention and will definitely not disappoint you.
