Cucumber variety KS 90 (F1)

Many breeding firms are fighting to create improved varieties of cucumbers. Kitano Seeds, a young company from Japan, also did not stand aside. To the court of gardeners, she presented a variety called KS 90 (probably the name came from the initial letters of the company). There is no information about the plant in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation, but the developers indicate that the hybrid can be grown in open ground and in greenhouses. This means that it can be cultivated throughout Russia.

Description

The plant is indeterminate, vigorous, forms lateral shoots, which guarantees a large number of fruits. The internodes are short. Refers to the vegetative-generative type. This means that the plant is actively developing and at the same time constantly forming ovaries. The leaves are large, heart-shaped, on long petioles, green in color. Venation is visible on the surface. The leaves, petioles and stem are slightly rough to the touch. In the bosom, from 3 to 5 zelents are formed. The root system is powerful.

Fruits are small, gherkin type, cylindrical, uniform, 8 - 12 cm long. The peel is large tuberous, dark green in color. The spines are light, easily crumble when touched. The pulp is dense, crispy, juicy, without voids. Bitterness is genetically absent. Cucumbers have excellent taste. The seed chamber is small. The seeds are soft.

Characteristics

  • Early ripening variety. Fruiting occurs about a month after transplanting;
  • intended for spring-summer and summer-autumn turnover;
  • the yield is excellent. The originators point to unlimited yields. The peculiarity of our hero is that after collecting the zelents, the formation of the ovary occurs again, as at the very beginning of the growing season;
  • the variety belongs to parthenocarpics, which makes it possible to form a crop in closed ground without the help of pollinating insects;

  • immunity, like all hybrids, is excellent. Especially KS 90 is resistant to powdery mildew, which is the main enemy in greenhouses, and downy mildew. Medium resistant to cucumber mosaic virus;
  • plasticity helps to withstand various stressful conditions, up to frost in the soil;
  • overgrown greens do not become barrel-shaped, keep their shape. Also, you will not find hooked cucumbers;
  • transportation over long distances is excellent;
  • shows excellent keeping quality. With proper storage, the fruits do not lose their presentation;
  • the way of use is universal. Our hero is good in its natural state, suitable for conservation and salting.

Agrotechnics

The hybrid is unpretentious. But he prefers soils with neutral acidity, light and nutritious. In order not to stretch the internodes, you need to maintain a balance of nutrients. When the fruiting period begins, the plant draws a lot of nutrition from the soil, so feeding is carried out not only by the root method, but also on the leaves. The cucumber definitely needs a garter to the support. If the plant has outgrown the height of the greenhouse, the top can be put to the side or down. The fruits are cut right to the trunk so that the ovaries begin to form again at this place.

The variety has proven itself well due to its yield, resistance to diseases and stressful situations, transportation and keeping quality, and, of course, taste. In addition, the large early production yield makes the KS 90 suitable for commercial use. No shortcomings were found. Unless you have to buy seeds every time.

An excellent variety, I recently began to grow it in the country. I used to plant non-hybrid varieties, but they were very sick and in June they were already starting to dry. The neighbors recommended KS 90. Cucumbers turned out to be very productive, on one bush up to 20 pieces. Fruiting until late autumn, care like all cucumbers - water and fertilize on time. I noticed that the variety is disease resistant. The only downside is that you have to buy seeds every year from the store. I tried to plant my own, but they hardly bear fruit.

The hybrid is great. But at the end of the season with drought it gave bitter fruits. And so excellent and fruitful!

Grown in a greenhouse for 2 years. The first year she planted several varieties of seedlings. but. settled on this grade. I got one bush of a different variety and one with bitter fruits. Last summer there were 9 bushes, I rolled cans for two winters. I bought new seeds, but I plan to grow 2 bushes in the greenhouse for now, I don’t need any more (at least I’ll eat the prepared ones). This year I will plant a couple of bushes on the street. I'll see what comes of it. Those planted last summer in an open garden (7 wipes) did not give any result, as they got sick, just starting to bloom.

I grow it for the second year. The variety is completely unstable to root and stem rot.
