Mazai is an early ripening cucumber hybrid obtained by the specialists of the Manul company (Mytishchi). Included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 1998 for the third light zone for garden plots, home gardens and small farms. Authors: A.V. Borisov, I.N. Parthenocarpic variety (high starting parthenocarp), photophilous, universal. The period from full germination to harvest is 42 - 46 days.
This hybrid of cucumber stands out for its massive yield of the harvest, with simultaneous filling of up to 6 - 8 zelents per plant without losing their commercial qualities. Recommended for cultivation in the spring-summer turnover under film shelters. In the southern regions, Mazai can be grown outdoors. Planting density in greenhouses - 2.5 plants / square meter, in open ground 3 - 5 plants / square meter.
Plants are medium-leafy, indeterminate, climbing, 3.5 - 4.5 m long, with limited branching, female or predominantly female flowering type. The leaves are pentagonal, large, smooth, slightly dissected, entire. The color of the leaves is green. The ovary is tuberous, cylindrical. The pubescence of the ovary is complex, sparse, white. In one node, 1 - 2 ovaries are formed.
Zelentsi are cylindrical in shape, with large sparse tubercles, round-triangular in cross section. The length of the greenery is 10 - 13 cm, the weight is 100 - 120 grams. The skin is green, with smeared stripes reaching 1/3 - 1/2 the length of the fruit. The neck is missing.
The taste and salting qualities of Mazai cucumber are high. There is no hollowness.
The marketable yield in the spring-summer turnover is 6.7 kg / m2 (for Virent's standards - 3.3 kg / m2, Legend - 7.8 kg / m2). Early yield - 3.2 (for Virent's standards - 2.9 kg / m2, Legend - 1.7 kg / m2). The output of marketable products is 98%.
This variety is resistant to cladosporium disease, powdery mildew and cucumber mosaic virus. Tolerant to downy mildew and root rot. Resists adverse conditions well.
