Cucumber variety Millionaire (F1)
Gherkins and pickles are a real delicacy and decoration of any festive table. As you know, gherkin is not a variety, but the size of a cucumber (according to the standard, the length is no more than 9 cm). For the production of pickles (a mixture of pickled small vegetables), even smaller cucumbers are selected, 3 - 5 cm. And here the main thing is not to miss the moment and to collect the fruits in time, before they are outgrown. For busy summer residents, this task is impossible, because they can visit their sites only on weekends. It is for such gardeners that the Uralsky Dachnik agrofirm has proposed a novelty - Millionaire, successfully combining yield (it is programmed for intensive production of short-fruited cucumbers) and slow growth, allowing the greenhouses not to outgrow. It is a hybrid, therefore it is always labeled F1. The variety is suitable for growing in open ground, under film shelters (tunnels), in spring greenhouses. The species developed by Siberian breeders can be cultivated in any region of Russia. True, the novelty has not yet been entered into the State Register. The hybrid is very interesting and has excellent characteristics, so the demand for it is very high and not only among ordinary summer residents. Unusual features of the variety are considered promising for industrial cultivation.
Description
The plants are tall, the bush is beautiful, powerful. Limited branching. Leaves are long-petiolate, angular-heart-shaped, the plate is solid, with a slightly corrugated surface, green in color. The flowering type of the cucumber is female. Fruiting of the super-beam type - up to 10 - 12 ovaries are formed in one node. A feature of the Millionaire is that the fruits in one bunch are poured gradually. Only after 1 - 2 ripe cucumbers have been removed, the next ones begin to ripen.
Zelentsy are short, cylindrical, gherkin type, green in color, with light short stripes. The surface is slightly ribbed, with large tubercles, the pubescence is white. Length 8 - 12 cm. The pulp is juicy, tender, rather dense, crispy and aromatic. The taste is good, without bitterness.
Variety characteristics
- In terms of ripening, the Millionaire belongs to the early maturing. From the moment of emergence of full shoots to the beginning of harvest, it takes about 40 days, more accurate indicators are influenced by climatic conditions;
- the yield of the cucumber is very high due to the bunch type of fruiting. The originators promise up to 400 cucumbers from each bush. With good agricultural technology, the marketable yield is more than 40 kg per 1 square meter;
- the variety belongs to bee-pollinated, therefore, several pollinator seeds are added to the package with the seeds of the main variety (for convenience, they are colored, so it is impossible to confuse them with a hybrid). Well-pollinated ovaries practically all ripen;
- a new property for culture - slow growth of fruits, the Millionaire acquired thanks to breeders. This genetically inherent trait, in combination with the formation of a large number of ovaries, inhibits the growth of zelents, which prevents their overgrowth. Harvesting cucumbers, of course, is desirable every day, but if this is not possible, then there will still be no crop losses. This feature of the hybrid is very important for ordinary summer residents who cannot visit their summer cottages every day;
- immunity is excellent. The plant is resistant to the common cucumber mosaic virus, olive leaf spot. The variety is tolerant to real and downy mildew;
- Another useful feature of the Millionaire allows you to collect even non-pollinated pickle-type ovaries (they have a flower at the top).These small vegetables are quite suitable for canning, as they have a fairly dense, crunchy and incredibly tasty flesh. The remaining cucumbers can be harvested as gherkins;
- Zelentov's transportability is good;
- the way of use can be called universal. Gherkins that have reached their maximum length are good in natural form. But the main purpose is canning.
Agrotechnics
Growing a generous Millionaire for the harvest is best done in a seedling way. Sowing seeds and growing seedlings are no different from the standard procedure. But agricultural technology is somewhat different. When transplanted to a permanent place, seedlings are planted very rarely - only 2 plants (and no more!) Per 1 square meter. Bushes are formed strictly into one stem, so the leaves get more light, and the ovaries are supplied with the required amount of nutrients. The lower 3 - 4 leaf nodes blind, and then, along the entire length of the cucumber stem, the emerging shoots are removed. The soil on the bed should be very loose, well fertilized, acidity at a pH level of 6 - 7. The crop is demanding for irrigation, for these purposes it is best to use a drip irrigation system. Since the variety is intended for the formation of a fairly large number of fruits, it requires an even and balanced nutrition, combining mineral fertilizers and organic matter. When preparing the soil, up to 10 kg of manure, 18 grams of nitrogen, 25 g of phosphorus, 20 g of potassium, 5 g of magnesium are applied per 1 square meter. After the first harvest, the plant is fed with nitrogen so that new ovaries begin to form in the axils. Then mineral supplements are added weekly, for example, "Zdraven turbo".
Millionaire - a new direction in the selection of super-bundled cucumber. This variety does not give overgrowths, which guarantees a high yield of marketable products. From one plant, you can collect both gherkins and pickles, which have excellent salting qualities. Good immunity, weak shoot-forming ability make it easier to care for the plant. The culture is suitable for busy gardeners, the fruits do not outgrow, so you should not worry about the loss of the crop. Among the disadvantages are the high requirements of the variety for agricultural technology and the need for the annual purchase of seeds.
