Cucumber variety Khrustik (F1)
What is most appreciated in cucumbers, especially canned ones? Of course, a delicious crunch. It is with such a juicy crunch that the Khrustyk cucumbers are distinguished, the applicants of which in 2011 were the Scientific Research Institute for the Selection of Vegetable Crops and LLC Gavrishsem. In the same year, the variety was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia. You can grow a vegetable in all regions of the country. It is recommended for spring film unheated greenhouses in personal subsidiary plots. In warm regions, it grows well in the open field. It is a hybrid, therefore it is always marked F1.
Description
The plant is vigorous, fast-growing, indeterminate, 1.2 meters high. According to some reports, in a greenhouse, the growth of a cucumber stalk can reach 3.0 or 3.5 meters. Average branching, flowering type - female flowers prevail. Leaves are not very large, on long petioles, dark green, with well-discernible venation. The variety has a bouquet type of fruiting and forms 7 - 8 ovaries in each internode (according to the State Register, the number of female flowers in a node is 2 - 3).
Zelenets Khrustyka is small in size - 10 - 12 cm, cylindrical, cross-sectional diameter - 3.5 - 4.0 cm. Skin color is green, with small light stripes and moderate spotting. The surface of the fruit is covered with not too large tubercles, located quite rarely. The pubescence is complex, rare, white. The mass of a cucumber is 100 - 110 grams, according to the State Register - 120 grams. The taste is excellent. Zelentsy are sweet, juicy. The pulp is firm, has excellent crunchiness and excellent aroma. There is no bitterness. The skin is thin and delicate.
An interesting feature of the hybrid is parthenocarp, that is, the variety sets a crop without pollination. It is this feature that makes it possible to grow a hybrid in a greenhouse, where pollinating insects rarely fly. But, as a rule, in parthenocarpics, seeds are either completely absent, or are in an undeveloped state, so there can be no question of collecting seed.
Characteristics
- Khrustik belongs to the early ripening varieties, 44 - 48 days pass from germination to the beginning of fruiting;
- high yield due to the beam type. According to the originator, about 10.9 - 11.7 kg of cucumbers are removed from 1 square meter, the State Register gives other indicators - according to their data, the marketable yield is 14.4 - 15.3 kg per 1 square meter. meters;
- the plant is highly resistant to the effects of unfavorable environmental factors, therefore, the yield is always stable;
- immunity, as befits hybrids, is excellent. There is a high resistance to powdery mildew, tobacco mosaic virus, olive spot and root rot. Medium resistance to powdery mildew;
- transportability is excellent, long distances do not affect the presentation of zelents;
- the way of use is universal. Sweet and crunchy cucumbers are used in vitamin salads, in their natural form with meat or vegetable dishes, for making okroshka. In addition, Khrustik is recognized as one of the best varieties for canning. Gherkin-type zelents are perfectly placed in a jar, canned cucumbers keep their shape and do not lose crunchiness.
Agrotechnics
Seeds are sown directly into the ground in May or June, it all depends on the region. Direct sowing is carried out only in well-heated soil, the temperature of which is not lower than 12 ° C. If, after sowing, the thermometer readings dropped sharply, the bed must be covered with a film. Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out at the end of April.The temperature at which the seedlings germinate and grow rapidly is about 25 ° C. After about a month, in late May - early June, the seedlings are planted in the ground. By this time, the plants should have 3 - 4 true leaves. Planting pattern - 30 cm in a row, 70 cm - row spacing. Choose a sunny place for cucumbers, Khrustyk is very photophilous. The soil should be very loose and nutritious, therefore, before planting, the soil is well dug up and nutrients, for example, organic matter, are introduced into it. A hybrid is formed into 1 stem, the garter is made on vertical trellises. During the growing season, 2 - 3 dressings are carried out using mineral water-soluble fertilizers. Harvesting is carried out regularly, as soon as the fruit reaches the required size. If this is not done on time, the upper ovaries stop developing.
The Khrustyk hybrid is an excellent high-yielding variety with very tasty and marketable fruits. Early maturity is especially appreciated in regions with short and cold summers. High resistance to diseases will reduce the number of preventive treatments to the required minimum. In addition, the crop can be grown both outdoors and indoors. Temperature changes will not prevent you from getting a good harvest, which can be used in its natural form and for conservation. Cucumber is undemanding in leaving, except for the need for a garter. The downside is the inability to collect seeds on your own.
