History of origin
This culture owes its appearance to the European breeder Ailan Meyer. Year of creation of the variety - 2002, place of origin - France. The plant was named after yachtsman and French naval officer Eric Taberly. In 2004, the rose was recognized in the States thanks to the efforts of the Star Roses company. A year later, the variety received an award from the Los Angeles Society. Other official names for the flower: Red Eden Rose, Red Pierre, Rouge Pierre de Ronsard. Registration name: MEIdrason.
Description of appearance and features
Eric Taberly is an erect shrub with a height of 80 to 150 cm, the thick stems of which are equipped with thorny thorns and are creeping, arched or whip-like. The length of each shoot is 2-6 meters. The leaves of the culture have a dense texture, are colored green and lack luster. The width of the bush is 70 cm. Although according to the international classification Eric Tabarly belongs to the climbing variety, in appearance it looks more like a scrub, mainly due to straight and tough shoots.
A sophisticated beauty originally from France is often called a crimson rose - for a gorgeous shade of dense double flowers. The color of the numerous petals, the number of which in each bud reaches a hundred, can also be described as rich red with a burgundy tint. The buds on the stems do not develop one at a time, but are collected in clusters of 3-5 pieces. The flower shape is defined as nostalgic. Thanks to this feature, the plant has another unofficial name: English rose.
In the phase of complete dissolution, the diameter of Eric Taberly's flowers ranges from 9 to 11 cm. The culture spreads around itself a wonderful fragrance, pronounced in the middle of the day and weaker in the morning and evening hours. The varietal plant blooms profusely, all summer, with a short break in July. However, this pause between flowering waves often goes unnoticed.
The variety is characterized by average winter hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -23 ° C. The culture is almost immune to diseases, especially black spot and powdery mildew. But Eric Tabarly does not tolerate rainfall: under the influence of rains, luxurious flowers can rot.
Growing and care
