Cucumber variety Ant (F1)

Ant is an ultra-early hybrid of a cucumber from a Russian producer - the Manul agricultural company, whose breeders took part in the breeding of such well-known varieties as Zozulya, Amur, April and others. In 2003, the variety was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. Approved for use in the Middle Volga, North Caucasus, Central Chernozem, Volgo-Vyatka, Central, North and North-West regions. Recommended for small farms and personal backyards. It works best when cultivated in film greenhouses, but is also perfect for open ground. Also, some gardeners recommend this hybrid for growing at home - on the windowsill.

Plants are medium-sized, slightly branched (lateral shoots are short), parthenocarpic (do not require pollination by bees), indeterminate (the growth of the main stem is not limited by the flower race). Begin to bear fruit 37 - 38 days after the emergence of mass shoots. Flowering female type. The formation of ovaries is bunchy - from 3 to 7 zelents are formed in one node. Leaves are dark green, medium-sized, slightly wrinkled, slightly wavy edge. In the greenhouse, the planting density is 2.5 - 3 plants / sq. meter, on the street - 3 - 5 plants / sq. meter.

Fruits are oval, large tuberous, slightly ribbed, weighing 100 - 110 grams, 8 - 11 cm long, 3 - 3.4 cm in diameter. The skin is green, with white stripes reaching the middle of the fruit. The pulp is of medium density, genetically devoid of bitterness. The pubescence is frequent, the thorns are white. Marketable yield reaches 10 - 12 kg per 1 sq. meter of landings. The fruiting period is short. Many gardeners note that the cucumber Ant begins to bear fruit 1 to 2 weeks earlier than other early-maturing varieties.

Cucumber variety Ant

Universal hybrid. But due to the small size of the fruit, it is most often used for winter harvesting. Both fresh and canned products have high taste qualities.

This variety is characterized by resistance to brown spot (cladosporium), common cucumber mosaic and powdery mildew, and is also tolerant to peronosporosis (downy mildew). It bears fruit actively even in adverse weather conditions.

Advantages of the Cucumber Ant: high yield, short-fruiting, early maturity, complex resistance to diseases.

There is an experience of growing at home and a photo of this hybrid. He does not like shading very much.

I grew it in a loggia in the summer of 2017, now (in the spring of 2018) I planted it again. Last summer, in the heat, the first flowers did not set. Then, among the multitude of women, sometimes men began to appear. Pollinated, ovaries appeared. Now it has bloomed too - the flowers are almost all female. I can't understand - parthenocarpic is a cucumber, as stated, or not.

This year I bought seeds of the Ant F1 variety, they sprouted well, but then it turned out that on the main stem (it formed into one vine, since I grow it on the balcony), there are only barren flowers in the axils. She began to leave her stepsons, but empty flowers predominate on them, and greens turn yellow and disappear.
