Rose Malibu (Malibu)

Many of us associate with the word “rose” such definitions as “tender”, “charming”, “sophisticated”, “graceful”. But they are not applicable to all varieties of the flower queen. But the adjectives listed are quite suitable for the beautiful Malibu. Get to know the flower better and see for yourself!

Creation history and description

The elite variety appeared in 2006. Malibu is a development of the Dutch company Interplant B.V. In some sources, you can find another name for the rose: Interulim.

Malibu is a pretty attractive tea hybrid with a memorable appearance. Its flowers and buds are characterized by an unusual color, in which pink, cream and light green shades are very successfully combined. More precisely, they smoothly merge into each other. In the lower part, the flower is pale green or white, and it acquires a pale pink color closer to the edges. The shape of the flower is also interesting - a dense center framed by wavy petals. These features give the buds airiness.

Flowers of a refined beauty are formed on the stems in groups. They are large, up to 9 cm in diameter. However, in the absence of sufficient soil moisture under the plant, the value of this indicator is steadily decreasing. Flowers of this variety are also distinguished by an impressive number of petals: from 50 to 55. Their aroma is weak, subtle and delicate. The rose bush blooms profusely, from June to the end of autumn, forming an average number of buds.

The plant has smooth erect shoots with few thorns. In height, the bush, characterized by strong growth, reaches 1.1-1.2 meters. The stems are covered with light green oblong leaves with a matte velvety surface.

The variety has a high degree of resistance to cold weather, sharp temperature fluctuations, as well as to most diseases and insect pests, which, however, cannot be said about rain. All in all, Malibu is the perfect solution for your garden!

Growing features

This hybrid is quite capricious in terms of leaving. He requires regular watering and moisturizing the leaves by spraying them from a spray bottle. Water for these purposes is used soft, room temperature. These activities are especially important in hot dry weather.

The area where you are going to plant the rose should not be exposed to direct sunlight and gusty winds. Choose a place where your pet is in partial shade. And make sure that there are no trees or other plants nearby - the lovely Malibu is very generous and easily gives nutrients to its neighbors. Comfortable temperatures for the plant in the warm season: 23-25 ​​° C.

Plant in a nutritious, highly fertile soil that absorbs moisture well. When planting a plant in the soil, immerse the graft there and to a depth of 2-3 cm. From time to time you can feed Malibu with a specialized complex fertilizer. In the fall, apply foliar dressing with potassium-phosphorus concentrate diluted in water. Although the variety is winter hardy, when grown in the northern regions, it still needs shelter.

Use cases

This plant belongs to the cut varieties. Its flowers stand in a vase for a long time, without losing their freshness and charm. To increase the shelf life of such a bouquet, an oblique incision is made on each plant, and the thorns and lower leaves are removed from the shoots.

The hybrid is often the object of choice for plant lovers, whose flowers are sustained in soothing colors. For the tenderness of the color scheme, these roses have long been loved by brides, therefore graceful buds can often be seen in miniature wedding bouquets made by florists. They are also used to decorate banquet halls.Plants of this variety are suitable for growing in a garden, flower garden. For a rose garden, Malibu is just a gorgeous choice!
