History of creation

This variety is relatively young, as it appeared at the beginning of the XXI century, more precisely, in 2001. Its authors were breeders from the USA: Ping Lim and Jerry Twomey. This variety belongs to the hybrid tea group. It was noted by the florist community almost from the first days of its existence, receiving the highest marks. So, at the 2003 competition in Baden-Baden, the variety was awarded the title of "Golden Rose", and a year earlier it won an award from the American Rose Society AARS. The English name of the plant is Pullman orient express. In Britain and the United States, the culture is known as "Love and Peace", which means "Love and Peace". This unofficial name of the Orient Express comes from the name of its "parent" - Peace, or Gloria dei... One more name of our heroine can be found in catalogs: BALpeace.

Description

The rose is a vigorous shrub with straight stems, distinguished by high strength, and dark green shiny leaves located throughout the plant. The height of the crop ranges from 1.2 to 1.8 meters. The width of the shrub is about 100 cm. The presence of large flowers with a stunning tricolor color makes this show variety amazing. Their central part has a rich creamy yellow hue, closer to the periphery of the densely doubled flower, the petals are kept in white or slightly yellowish tones, and a light crimson border is observed along the edges. The diameter of the flower varies from 13 to 15 cm. The height of the unopened bud is 6-8 cm. The flowers of the Orient Express keep their shape well, do not crumble for a long time, develop one on each shoot, sometimes in small racemose inflorescences. They delight not only with their incomparable beauty, but also with a wonderful, pronounced aroma, in which fruity notes are guessed. It is a re-flowering variety. In other words, the plant takes a short break during the flowering process.

Pullman orient express is a fairly frost-resistant culture. It is rarely affected by diseases and insect pests. The positive characteristics of the rose also include the high resistance of flowers to summer heat, sunlight and rain.

Growing conditions and care

It is advisable to place the Orient Express in a well-lit and, at the same time, reliably protected from drafts area. Nevertheless, this place should be well ventilated - to reduce the likelihood of various bacterial and fungal diseases on the leaves.

The soil for planting shrubs is chosen fertile, loose. Nutritious loam and black soil are ideal in this sense. The variety prefers a slightly acidic substrate. A pit 50 cm deep is prepared for the seedling. Drainage is laid on its bottom, for example, a layer of small pebbles, which is sprinkled with earth, and on top - with a mixture of nitrophosphate, soil and wood ash. At the end of planting, the rose is watered, the soil around it is mulched.

Caring for the Pullman orient express should be comprehensive and consist of regular watering, top dressing, weeding, loosening the soil, forming pruning.

The soil under the bush is moistened after drying. Use only soft, slightly warm water for this purpose.Once every three weeks, the Orient Express is fed. In the spring, organic fertilizers are used, at the stage of budding and at the beginning of flowering they switch to mineral complexes.

Loosening of the soil is carried out the next day after watering. Roses are pruned in the summer (to preserve the decorativeness of the culture), in the spring (dry shoots are removed, but only after the buds awaken), and in the fall (they rid the shrub of immature, weak and diseased stems, and the healthy ones are shortened, leaving 40-50 cm from the original height) ...

To maintain the health of the flower at the proper level, as a preventive measure, several times during the growing season, the bush is treated with a solution of fungicides and insecticides. Shelter of a plant for the winter consists in hilling it with earth, setting it around the frame and draping this structure on top with Spandex.

Use cases

The Orient Express variety can be planted separately on the site, or it can be included in group flower arrangements. With his participation, landscape designers form hedges and divide the gardens into zones. In this case, the distance between crops should be on average 60 cm. A lone rose looks good in a flower bed if you place it in the center. Plant perennials and annuals around with yellow, red, pink, and white flowers. Shoots with buds are suitable for cutting, as they retain their freshness and shape for a long time.
