Tomato variety Andromeda (F1)

Early, productive and tasty tomatoes are the dream of any gardener. Not only professional scientists, but also amateurs work on the creation of just such varieties. The breeder A.A. Mashtakov, who creates amazing varieties that quickly become popular. One of them is the famous Andromeda, well known and appreciated. The popular hybrid was registered in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation in 1998. Approved for cultivation in the Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, Lower Volga, Middle Volga, East Siberian and West Siberian regions. The tomato is recommended for open ground, but in cooler areas it can be successfully grown in greenhouses and film shelters.

Description

The plant is determinate, not standard, about 70 cm high. In the greenhouse, the growth increases to 1 meter. Semi-spreading bush, medium-branched, moderately leafy. The stalk is thick, but under the load of ripening tomatoes it can lie down. Andromeda's root system is underdeveloped. Leaves are ordinary in shape and size, gray-green in color. The surface is medium corrugated. The leaf plate can be twisted towards the middle. Yellow flowers are collected in simple or intermediate inflorescences. The first fruit cluster in the variety is laid over 6 - 7 leaves. Subsequent ones appear after 1 - 2 sheets. Filled tomato clusters consist of 5 - 7 ovaries. The peduncle is articulated.

The fruit of a beautiful classical shape is smooth and flat-round. Weight from 73 to 121 grams. The skin is glossy, firm. An unripe tomato is light green in color, without a dark spot at the stalk. Ripe is filled with an even red color. The pulp is moderately dense, fleshy and moderately juicy, sweet and sour taste. Seed chambers - 4 - 5. Fresh fruits have good taste. The juice contains: dry matter 4.1 - 5.0%, total sugar 1.7 - 2.8%, acid 0.42 - 0.60%, ascorbic acid 13.1 - 17.4% per 100 grams of raw substances.

Characteristics

  • The Andromeda hybrid belongs to the early maturing. The first tomatoes ripen in 89 - 119 days after full sprouting. The cleaning period starts in June;
  • The State Register of Varieties of the Russian Federation provides statistics on the yield of marketable fruits by region:
  1. Central Black Earth: 128 - 516 c / ha, which is higher than the standards of Svitanok and Lagidny by 4 - 144 c / ha;
  2. North Caucasian: 172 - 630 c / ha, 22 - 96 c / ha more than the standards of tomatoes Nepryadva, Morning and Agata;
  3. Srednevolzhsky: 270 - 362 c / ha, which is 132 - 138 c / ha higher than that of Maryushka and Danna, taken as the standard;
  4. Nizhnevolzhsky: 268 - 722 c / ha, higher than the Morning and Early 83 standards by 54 - 252 c / ha;
  5. Astrakhan Region: the maximum indicator was registered, amounting to 722 c / ha, which is 252 c / ha higher than the Early 83 standard;

  • if we take the indicators from an ordinary garden bed, then the yield of Andromeda will be about 7 - 8 kg per 1 square meter, in film shelters this figure is higher - 11.6 - 12.7 kg per 1 square meter. meters;
  • the output of marketable products is very high - 73 - 100%;
  • the fruiting of tomato is stable and long-lasting, the fruits are tied and ripen until cold weather;
  • tomatoes are resistant to cracking;
  • the immunity of the variety is medium - resistant to the tobacco mosaic virus, and moderately susceptible to macrosporiosis. According to the State Register, it can suffer greatly from phytophthora;
  • Andromeda is quite stress-resistant - it easily tolerates sudden changes in temperature, frost, and does not stop growth in the heat. Even in the northern regions it gives a good harvest under the film;
  • the commercial qualities of tomatoes are excellent, the variety is famous for good transportability and keeping quality;
  • the way of eating fruits is universal. Fresh they are great for salads, suitable for processing into tomato products, for pickling. The size of tomatoes is ideal for whole fruit canning.

Agrotechnics

Andromeda is grown in seedlings. Seeds are sown 55 - 60 days before transplanting to a permanent place.In regions with a warm climate, seedlings are sown in early March, in cooler ones - in mid-April. The seeding depth is 1 - 2 cm. The seedlings germinate well at a temperature of 22 - 25 ° C. The pick is carried out in the phase of 1 or 2 true leaves. Before planting in the soil, the seedlings are hardened. They are planted in open ground in early or mid-May in warm regions, from late May to early June in cool regions. The bushes of this variety must be tied up, since, despite the low growth, the stem will not be able to withstand a bountiful harvest. Planting scheme: distance between plants - 40 cm, row spacing - 50 cm. Planting density - no more than 4 bushes per 1 square meter. Hybrid care is easy. The tomato requires timely watering, weeding and loosening of row spacings. To obtain a good harvest, universal mineral fertilizing should be regularly applied.

Varieties

The popularity of the hybrid could not go unnoticed. After him, his “descendants” appeared, differing in color and some characteristics.

Andromeda pink

The hybrid appeared about 10 years ago. It can be grown in open ground and in a greenhouse, so it is recommended for all regions of Russia, but it shows the best performance in the North Caucasus region. In addition, the variety is known in Moldova and Ukraine. In glass greenhouses it is used for autumn-winter and winter-spring turnover.

Description

The plant is determinate, compact, 65 - 70 cm high. Branching is good, pinching is required constantly. Leaves are of normal size, the color of the plate is green with a silvery tinge. The flowers form an intermediate type inflorescence. The first fruit cluster is laid low, above 5 or 6 leaves. Then it is formed through 1 - 2 sheets. In the fruit cluster, there are 4 or more ovaries.

The fruit is flat-round in shape, rather dense, slightly ribbed. Weight from 90 to 120 grams. The skin is firm, glossy. In an unripe form, the tomato is light green, without a spot at the stalk. When ripe, it turns into a uniform pink color. The pulp is fleshy, sugary, low-seeded. The variety has excellent taste.

Characteristics

  • Pink Andromeda is ultra-early maturing. From the moment of full germination to the beginning of ripening, only 80 - 87 days pass;
  • in film greenhouses, the yield is 11 - 12 kg per 1 square meter. Outdoors - 7 kg per sq. meters;
  • in the first 10 days of fruiting, the tomato forms up to 30% of the total yield;
  • the output of marketable products is 96%;
  • pink is characterized by high heat resistance, even in a very hot summer it does not fail with the harvest. But, according to reviews, in a protected ground during extreme heat and high humidity it can shed flowers;

  • the immunity of pink Andromeda is better than that of the main variety. Manages to give the harvest before late blight appears, is resistant to tobacco mosaic virus, tolerant to Alternaria;
  • dense high-quality fruits perfectly withstand long-distance transportation;
  • the harvest is consumed in its natural form, in salads, used for canning.

Agrotechnics

The timing of planting seedlings is the third decade of March. Seedlings are planted in a permanent place at the age of 60 - 65 days, when the plants have 5 - 7 true leaves. In mid-May, seedlings are planted under a film, in unprotected soil - at the beginning of June. Planting density - no more than 4 plants per 1 square meter. The sunnier the place, the sweeter the fruit. Form the tomato into 2 stalks. Passionking must be carried out in a timely manner. The variety needs a garter to support it. Productivity directly depends on the quality of care - timely feeding, watering with warm water, loosening and weeding.

Andromeda golden

This hybrid has also appeared relatively recently. Recommended for early production both outdoors and in foil greenhouses.The regions suitable for cultivation are the North Caucasian and Central Black Earth regions.

Description

Determinant plant, in the open field it reaches a height of 70 - 90 cm, in the closed field - 1 meter or slightly more. The bush is powerful, medium-branched, with dense green foliage. The inflorescences are of a simple type. The first is laid under 5 - 6 sheets, then - after 1 - 2 sheets. In total, Andromeda golden forms up to 5 fruit clusters, in each of which 4 - 7 ovaries are formed.

Fruits are round, with a slightly ribbed surface, dense. The average weight is about 100 grams, but some sources indicate that with proper care, specimens of 300 - 350 grams can mature. In the period of maturity, the fruits acquire a yellow-orange or rich yellow color. The pulp is sugary, juicy, some compare it with watermelon. According to reviews, the taste of the Golden variety is not inferior to varietal tomatoes. The number of seed nests is from 4. The pulp is characterized by a high content of sugars and beta-carotene (up to 2.37%).

Characteristics

  • Andromeda gold is inferior in early maturity to Pink, but, nevertheless, it is an early maturing variety. The first tomatoes ripen 95 - 115 days after full sprouting;
  • the yield in unprotected soil is 2.5 kg per plant or 5 - 7.6 kg per 1 square meter, under a film cover - 9 kg per 1 sq. meters;
  • the immunity of the tomato is excellent - it resists well against fungal diseases and the tobacco mosaic virus;
  • Gold has good cold resistance;
  • fruits have high marketable qualities, perfectly tolerate long-term transportation;
  • mainly tomatoes are used fresh.

Agrotechnics

Sowing time for seedlings and planting in a permanent place are the same as for the pink variety. The plant is formed into 1 - 2 stems with a garter to the support. The variety is grown according to the technology described above.

The valuable qualities of Andromeda and its varieties are early ripening, stable yield, high marketability of fruits and ease of care. Due to the excellent adaptability of the plants, the crop can be obtained even in cold regions by planting seedlings in closed ground. Also, hybrids can be successfully used in small farms that grow tomatoes for sale.
