Tomato variety Batianya

Every self-respecting gardener always has several tomato varieties, from the cultivation of which he will never refuse. One of these “favorites” for many is Batianya. Even in its name, there is a certain reliability. The variety, bred by the Novosibirsk breeders V.N. Dederko and O.V. Postnikova, was entered in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation in 2008, a year after the filing of the application for registration. Approved for cultivation in all regions of the country. The tomato is recommended for growing in open ground and under film shelters in personal subsidiary plots. Not a hybrid.

Description

The plant is tall, belongs to the indeterminate type. Height 1.7 - 2 meters. In order for the crop to ripen before the onset of cold weather, growth sometimes has to be limited manually. The stem of the variety is thin, the internodes are elongated, the root system is rather superficial. Weak branching, moderate foliage. Batiani's tomato-type leaf plate, large, slightly corrugated, dark green on top, lighter on the reverse side. The plant is slightly pubescent. A simple inflorescence is composed of yellow flowers. The first fruit cluster in a tomato is laid above the 9th leaf. In each cluster, from 3 to 5 fruits ripen, although more can be tied. The peduncle is articulated. Up to 8 fruit clusters are formed on the plant during the growing season. But in Siberia, it is best to leave no more than 4 brushes so that the crop has time to ripen.

The fruits are heart-shaped with a slightly rounded nose, the ribbing is poorly expressed. In appearance, Batianya resembles everyone's favorite variety, Bull's Heart. The skin is not too dense, but durable, glossy, according to reviews, it can be easily removed. An unripe tomato has a green color and a dark green spot at the stalk, when ripe it becomes crimson. The pulp is moderately dense, fleshy, sugary, juicy, but not watery, aromatic. The number of seed nests is more than 4, but there are not many seeds in them. The taste is dominated by sweetness, for which taste is rated very high - by 4.6 - 5 points. With regard to taste, many have come to the conclusion that it is best manifested in tomatoes grown in the open field. In greenhouse, the pulp can be somewhat loose and watery. The average weight of the fetus, according to the State Register, is 200 grams; on a package with seeds, the indicated maximum weight is 350 grams.

According to gardeners, the plant does not look very powerful during the growth period, but when the harvest begins to ripen, the impression changes for the better.

Characteristics

  • Batyanya is valued for its early maturity, from the moment of emergence to the beginning of ripening, 90 - 110 days pass, depending on the growing conditions;
  • yield, according to the State Register, is low - only 2 kg per 1 square meter. But, according to the reviews of gardeners and other sources, this indicator is more encouraging - up to 5 kg from one bush or 15 - 17 kg from 1 sq. meters;
  • the immunity of the variety is decent, the tomato resists diseases well, especially phytophthora;
  • the plant is hardy, adapts well to various climatic conditions, ovaries are formed in both cold and hot summers;
  • fruiting begins around the beginning of July, and ends with the onset of persistent cold weather;
  • in conditions of high humidity, the skin of the Batyani fruit may crack;
  • according to some reports, a yellow spot called "shoulders" may remain near the stalk. But this phenomenon is more likely associated with a lack of lighting and potash fertilizers;
  • tomatoes harvested at the stage of blanche ripeness are perfectly ripened at a temperature of 12 - 15 ° C;
  • the transportability of the fruits is excellent, the appearance does not suffer during transportation, the keeping quality also does not fail;
  • way of consumption - salad. Due to the small amount of seeds, tomatoes can be used for winter harvesting;
  • seeds for further breeding of the variety can be harvested independently.

Agrotechnics

To get an early harvest, it is, of course, better to grow Batyanu in a seedling way. For seedlings, seed is sown taking into account the climatic characteristics of the region.Seedlings are transplanted into the ground at the age of 60 - 65 days. A garter to a support or trellis is required. Stealing is a must. In order for the tomato to show the best result, it must be formed into 1 or 2 stems. Usually the tip is pinched in August, or a little earlier, depending on the region. Planting pattern - 40 cm between bushes, row spacing - 50 cm. Planting density - no more than 4 pieces per 1 square meter. Given the superficial location of the root system, watering is best done in grooves dug along the bushes. It is advisable to take water for irrigation warm, heated in the sun. Top dressing is also important, because the fruits are poured quite large, which means that the culture spends a lot of energy on them. Potassium and phosphorus are mainly used for fertilization. Try to choose a sunny place for a tomato garden, because the sugar content in a tomato directly depends on this.

Batyanya is an excellent variety that has won the hearts of many tomato growers. In leaving, he practically does not cause trouble, except for the need for a garter and pinning. But as a reward for the work, the gardener will receive an early ripe crop of excellent quality. According to numerous reviews, it is still better to grow this variety outdoors. The yield in this case, although lower, but the taste qualities of tomatoes are revealed brighter.
