Tomato variety Fighter (Buyan)
The troubles of tomato growers begin long before the opening of the summer season. It is necessary to find new varieties, process the seeds according to all the rules, grow seedlings from them. How disappointing it can be that after so much trouble, the result is disastrous. Of course, many factors affect yield, such as seed quality or weather conditions. But there are tomato varieties that will delight in all stages of growth, regardless of the climate - from germination to harvest. Among these hard workers is the tomato Fighter (his name is fully consistent with his character). In 1998, the novelty was announced by the Federal Research Center, Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2000, after variety trials, the species was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia with admission in all regions of the country. By the way, this tomato is also popular among our closest neighbors - in Moldova and Ukraine. Recommended for growing in open ground and under film shelters in garden plots, in small farms and household plots. Not a hybrid.
The variety also has another popular name - Buyan. It is often used in everyday life, and many gardeners know the species under this name. This was the nickname for our hero for the exuberant growth of inflorescences and unrestrained fruiting. A double name is also often written on bags with Fighter's seeds.
Description
The plant is determinate, low - no more than 50 cm in height, a standard bush, with a strong stem and short internodes. Moderate branching, medium leafiness. Leaves are not very large, green, tomato type, strongly corrugated. The inflorescence is simple. The first fruit cluster is laid over 6 - 7 leaves, the subsequent ones appear after 1 or 2 leaves. In each cluster, about 5 ovaries are formed, sometimes a little more, but on average 3 fruits ripen. The Fighter's peduncle is articulated. A small tomato bush during the fruiting period is all hung with tomato bunches.
The fruits of the variety are cylindrical in shape, similar to a large plum, smooth, resilient, thick-walled. Unripe tomato is green, with a dark spot at the stalk. When ripe, it turns red evenly, the stain disappears. The skin is firm and firm, but not hard, glossy. The pulp of tomatoes is fleshy, moderately juicy and dense, fragrant, low-seeded - the number of chambers is 3 - 4. The taste is good, pleasant, rich, sweet and sour, many call it the ideal tomato. Fruit weight according to the State Register is 67 - 88 grams. In other sources, including reviews, the weight in the first brushes reaches about 180 grams, but the higher, the smaller the tomatoes.
Characteristics
- The fighter belongs to the early maturing varieties, ripening occurs in 95 - 100 days after the emergence of full shoots. Such early maturity is very convenient for gardeners in the southern regions, as it allows planting another crop after a fruitful tomato;
- the yield, according to gardeners who have been growing the variety for more than one year, in a favorable period and subject to good care, can exceed 20 kg per 1 square meter. But for the sake of objectivity, we will give other indicators. Various sites describing the plant claim 5.0 - 8.0 kg per sq. meters or 2.0 - 2.5 kg per bush. According to the State Register, this figure reaches only 2.3 kg per 1 sq. meters;
- yield of ripe marketable fruits 72% (also statistics of the State Register);
- in terms of general indicators, the immunity of tomato is quite decent - high resistance to the tobacco mosaic virus, average resistance to bacterial diseases. According to numerous reviews, the culture practically does not suffer from late blight (and this is another plus of early maturity);
- resistance to unfavorable weather conditions is high, the Fighter is not afraid of changes in day and night temperatures, which especially often happens in cool regions. This feature allows cultivating the variety in the conditions of Western Siberia;
- in cooler areas it is often necessary to harvest unripe. But this is not a problem, since tomatoes are perfectly ripened at home;
- drought resistance, which our hero also possesses, perfectly adapts the plant to growing in the southern regions, where the thermometer often exceeds 30 ° C, and precipitation in recent years has been rare and scarce;
- the Fighter's fruits are quite resistant to cracking, but still this trouble can happen due to frequent waterlogging of the soil;
- the crop easily tolerates long-term transportation, but with respect to keeping quality, many remain dissatisfied and do not put more than three for this indicator;
- but the harvested crop can be used in a universal way. Excellent taste and structure of the pulp make tomatoes an excellent ingredient for salads. The strong skin has made the variety a leader in the use in whole fruit canning. Tomatoes are also frozen, dried, processed into tomato products.
Agrotechnics
Considering the fact that the Fighter can be successfully cultivated in all regions of Russia, moreover, in open and closed ground, it is best to calculate the seed sowing time yourself. On average, this period in the middle lane falls at the beginning of March, in the south - in mid-February, and in a cold climate - at the end of March or early April. By the time of transplantation to a permanent place, the seedlings should be 50 - 55 days old. Choose areas for cultivation that are sufficiently lit, with nutritious and loose soil.
Small plants in the garden are placed quite densely - 6 - 7 pieces per 1 square meter. With a two-line planting, the distance between the tomato bushes is 30 - 40 cm, the row spacing is at least 50 cm. It is quite easy to grow a crop. Despite the fact that the recommendations do not contain instructions for tying and forming a bush, experienced gardeners do not neglect these rules. During the ripening period, heavy fruit brushes can easily overwhelm the stem to one side or even break it. Watering is carried out in a timely manner, feeding is necessary, at least 2 - 3 during the growing season. In the southern regions, seeds can be sown directly into the ground. But it should be borne in mind that the consumption of seeds will increase. The sowing period in this case is no later than the first ten days of May.
The Fighter is an excellent all-round strain suitable for all regions. Care is simple, so even beginners can take up the cultivation of the variety. Also, the tomato is suitable for busy gardeners. With proper care, the yield will not fail, and housewives will be able to prepare many delicious preparations. Buyan's strong immunity allows you to minimize the number of treatments, which in turn increases the environmental friendliness of the fruit. Also, the plant can be grown in thickened plantings, which significantly saves planting space in small areas. A big plus is the ability to prepare the seed on your own. Although most gardeners have no complaints about the quality of purchased seeds - they germinate perfectly. No significant shortcomings were found during the cultivation of the variety.
Buyan yellow
In the wake of the great popularity of the Fighter, Agro-Technological Firm "Agros" LLC in 2004 announced the creation of a new variety of Yellow Buyan. Both varieties have many similar characteristics, but they also have differences. In 2007, the novelty was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia in the West Siberian region (Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk regions, Altai Territory and the Altai Republic). The tomato is recommended for growing in the open field of personal subsidiary plots. Not a hybrid.
Description
The plant is determinate, of the standard type, with a moderate shoot-forming ability and medium foliage. Height is about 50 cm.The leaves are small, dark green. Yellow flowers are collected in intermediate type inflorescences. Each fruit cluster consists of 5 - 7 ovaries. The peduncle is articulated. The fruits of the yellow-fruited Fighter are smooth, resemble the red-fruited namesake in shape, but their mass is somewhat larger. The weight recorded by the State Register is 60 - 120 grams, the maximum is 148 grams. According to other sources, the mass can reach 180 and even 200 grams. Unripe tomato is green, with a small dark spot at the stalk. Ripe turns yellow, the stain disappears. The pulp is tender, juicy, moderately dense, sugary. The number of seed nests is 4 - 6. The taste is assessed as good and excellent. The juice contains 4.0 - 4.6% of dry matter, 2.1 - 3.3% of total sugar.
Variety characteristics
- The ripening period of Buyan yellow is 110 - 115 days after the emergence of full shoots. This classifies the species as mid-season;
- the yield according to the State Register is 163 - 494 c / ha, for the standards of Demidov and Siberian early ripening this figure is 194 - 402 c / ha. According to other sources, the yield reaches 4 - 5 kg per plant or up to 25 kg per 1 square meter;
- the yield of marketable fruits is 69 - 86%;
- in relation to unfavorable conditions, the plant is very stable, as evidenced by the region of admission;
- even the unripe fruits of the yellow Fighter, harvested ahead of time, are well ripened;
- the immunity of this tomato can be compared with the red-fruited Buyan, there is the same good resistance to the tobacco mosaic virus and average to bacterial diseases;
- transportability is good, but it is not worth laying the harvest of this variety for storage, it is better to put it into processing;
- the way of eating fruits is universal. Harvested tomatoes are great for vitamin salads, whole-fruit canning and processing into tomato products.
Agrotechnics
For seedlings, seeds are sown in late March - early April. The seedlings are quite strong and do not stretch even in low light. Agricultural techniques for the cultivation of the yellow-fruited variety completely coincide with those described above. But there are still exceptions. The variety is grown only in seedlings. The planting density of tomatoes is not so high - 4 plants per 1 square meter. But the landing pattern is the same.
Buyan yellow is appreciated for its high resistance to adverse weather conditions, which allows tomato growers in regions with difficult weather conditions to feast on excellent yellow-fruited tomatoes. The yield is higher than that of the red-fruited Fighter, and immunity and other characteristics are completely the same.
