Tomato variety Summer resident

For those gardeners who cannot always devote enough time to their plantings, but hope for a stable harvest, it is important to choose the right variety. Among the tomato variety, I would like to highlight one variety, which is called the Summer resident. An application for its registration in 1996 was submitted by the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing" and breeder R.Kh. Bekov. After almost 3 years of variety trials, in 1999, the tomato was included in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus region (Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, the Republic of Crimea, Adygea, Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia-Alania, Chechen, Kabardino-Balkarian) ... But this tomato can be grown in the south, in the Central region, it is also popular in Moldova and Ukraine. Recommended for outdoor use. Not a hybrid.

Description

The plant is undersized, semi-sprawling, determinant, growth in different climatic conditions can vary from 50 to 80 cm. Standard bush. The stem is thick, strong. Moderate leafiness. Leaves are medium in size. The surface of the leaf plate with reticulated veins, slightly wrinkled, green, slightly lighter on the reverse side. The shoot-forming ability of tomato is good. The main stem and shoots are slightly pubescent. The inflorescence of the variety is simple. The peduncle is articulated. On average, from 4 to 6 ovaries are formed in one fruit cluster of the Summer Resident.

The fruits are beautiful, as in the picture, flat-round in shape, with a slight ribbing at the stalk, weighing 55 - 93 grams. The skin is glossy, firm. When ripe, the tomato turns bright red. The pulp is moderately dense, juicy. The number of seed nests is more than 4. The taste is good, tomato, sweet and sour. 100 grams of tomato juice contains: dry matter 5.6%, total sugar 3.3%, ascorbic acid 17.1 mg.

Characteristics

• Summer resident is an early ripening variety. From the germination period to the beginning of ripening, 97 - 117 days pass. Cleaning can be done from mid-August;
• the yield of marketable products is 251 - 347 c / ha, which is slightly higher than the standards of Agat and Nepryadva - 222 - 346 c / ha. In the Krasnodar Territory, the maximum yield was shown - 358 c / ha, which is 70 c / ha higher than that of Agata. For the first decade of fruiting, the plant gives from 50 to 134 c / ha, this is at the level or 19 c / ha higher than the standards. The total yield of tomato is 3.5 kg per 1 square meter;
• the output of marketable products is high - from 74% to 100%;
• the fruiting period is extended, the tomato yields until September, and in the south it can bear fruit until early October;
• The summer resident shows good resistance to diseases, especially to fusarium and apical rot;
• resistance to temperature fluctuations in tomato is high, ovaries appear in any weather conditions;
• the variety is distinguished by good drought resistance, it can do without watering for some time;
• thanks to the strong skin, the tomatoes do not crack;

• harvesting seed material can be successfully dealt with independently, because the Summer resident is not a hybrid, but a varietal plant;
• tomatoes perfectly tolerate transportation and can be stored for a long time - they do not lose their presentation and taste in the refrigerator for about 3 weeks;
• the way of eating fruits is universal. Tomatoes are good in their natural form, in vegetable salads, perfect for canning and processing into tomato products - sauces, ketchups, juice.

Agrotechnics

Like most other types of tomatoes, the Gardener is easier to grow through seedlings. Sowing is carried out from the second half of March. After 55 - 60 days, somewhere from mid-May, when the threat of frost has passed, you can plant the seedlings in a permanent place.Recommended planting scheme: distance between plants - at least 40 cm, row spacing - 70 cm. Density - from 6 to 8 pieces per 1 square meter. In order to increase the yield, it is recommended to form a bush in 3 - 4 stems. Extra stepsons must be removed. In order to increase the sugar content of fruits, choose sunny areas for planting tomatoes. The variety is not particularly picky about humidity; it is necessary to water it only if necessary, focusing on natural precipitation. Of the dressings, phosphorus and potassium are preferred, you should not get carried away with nitrogen. The rest of the care meets the general requirements.

The variety can be grown both under a film shelter and in a greenhouse. But indoors, it is important to observe the humidity of the air, it should be no higher than 60 - 65% at the time of pollination. Also, high humidity can provoke an outbreak of fungal diseases.

A summer resident is a reliable and unpretentious tomato, it will not fail even in a cold summer. Disease resistance, plasticity, high yields and the possibility of whole fruit preservation - all these qualities make the variety incredibly popular. In addition, the small size of the plant allows it to be successfully grown on the balcony.
