Tomato variety Katya (F1)

Even tomato bushes can look very elegant and aesthetically pleasing. One of these plants is the Katya variety, which is a racemose hybrid. It was brought out to LLC "Semko-Junior", the application for registration was submitted relatively recently - in the 2004th year. The variety was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 2007 with admission to cultivation in the North Caucasus region (the Republic of Ingushetia, Adygea, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkarian, North Ossetia-Alania, Crimea, Chechen, Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, Rostov Region) ... The tomato is recommended for growing in the open field of personal subsidiary plots. But good growth and yield rates under film cover make it possible for gardeners from cooler regions to grow this hybrid.

Description

The plant is of a determinant type, that is, not tall, which makes it easier to care for them. In the open field, the height is 60 - 70 cm, in the closed field - 1 meter. The stem of the variety is of medium thickness, the internodes are short. Tomato bush is not too branched, medium leafy. Katya's leaves are petioled, green, of normal size and type, with a slightly corrugated surface. The inflorescence is simple, without branching. The first fruit cluster is laid over 5 - 6 leaves, subsequent ones are formed after 1 - 2 leaves. Clusters are well filled, each containing up to 7 - 8 ovaries. The peduncle is articulated, the place of attachment of the peduncle to the tomato is wide.

Katya fruits have good firmness, smooth surface, round to flat-round shape. By their size, they can be called one-dimensional. The average fruit weight of the variety, according to the State Register, is 80 - 92 grams, according to the originator - the weight is from 110 to 130 grams. The skin is dense, not thick, glossy. Unripe tomato is light green, without a spot at the stalk. Ripe turns red. The pulp is fragrant, which is rare in hybrids, fleshy, tender. The taste is sweet and sour, gardeners note that for early tomatoes, the taste is more than good. In the State Register, the taste of tomato is described as good and excellent. The number of seed nests is only 3 - 4 pieces. 100 grams of freshly squeezed juice contains 4.6% dry matter, 2.4% total sugar.

Characteristics

  • From the appearance of the first shoots to the beginning of fruiting of the hybrid, Katya takes only 75 - 80 days, which indicates its ultra-early maturity;
  • according to the State Register, the yield of marketable fruits of the variety is 326 - 550 c / ha, in comparison with the standard Dar Zavolzhya this indicator is 341 and 192 c / ha. The originator promises a yield in the open field of about 8 - 10.5 kg per 1 square meter, indoors - 13 - 15 kg per 1 square meter. meters;
  • yield of marketable fruits 84 - 90%;
  • the immunity of the hybrid is very high. It is noted that the plant perfectly resists top rot, late blight, tobacco mosaic virus, Alternaria;
  • thanks to the dense skin, the fruits are resistant to cracking;
  • the harvest ripens amicably - this allows you to remove the maximum number of ripe tomatoes in the first 2 harvests;
  • excellent adaptability ensures that, regardless of weather conditions during the growing season, the crop will form and mature;
  • the density of tomatoes allows you to transport the crop over long distances without losing its presentation, keeping quality also does not fail;
  • the method of using the fruits is salad. Katya is an excellent ingredient for early salads and is also suitable for juicing.

Agrotechnics

The variety is grown in seedlings. For seedlings, tomato seeds are sown 60 - 65 days before the intended planting in a permanent place. It is best to calculate the terms yourself, as they vary somewhat depending on climatic conditions. For example, in the southern regions, sowing for seedlings can be done from mid-February. In cooler places - almost a month later. In open ground, dived and hardened seedlings should be planted when the threat of spring return frosts has passed. If the weather is unstable, then use a film shelter.The variety is recommended to form in 3 stems. To do this, you need to leave 1 stepson under the first flower brush, another one above it. All other stepchildren must be removed, leaving a small stump, 5 - 7 mm in size. Bushes must be tied to a support. To ripen in the brushes faster, the leaves under the lower brush are torn off. There is an opinion of some gardeners that this variety does not need to be pinned at all, but in this case the tomatoes will be smaller. The rest of the care is no different from usual.

Pink Katya (F1)

This hybrid also belongs to Semko-Junior LLC, but so far it is a novelty on the seed market. The year of filing an application for registration is 2015, and in 2017 the variety was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation with admission to cultivation in all regions of Russia. Recommended for open ground and film shelters in personal subsidiary plots.

I liked the tomato for all characteristics. Delicious, juicy, dense, not sour. All fruits were almost the same size, which is very good for preservation, ideally fit into a jar. Good for salad too. They began to ripen early. Tomatoes were tied in bunches, on one bunch there were 5 - 7 pieces. Even the neighbors paid attention to them, asked for the name of the variety. The bushes did not hurt, but they did not “survive” the intense heat and drought, the fruits seemed to wither. I think this is due to the fact that they grew up in the open field. Tomatoes were not damaged in the greenhouse. Nevertheless, before the heat wave the harvest was more than decent.

Katya grew up last year, her neighbor praised her very much. I planted seedlings in mid-March, and at the beginning of May, already planted with buds in open ground, there was no way to cover with a film. Despite this, the plants developed well, bloomed and began to set fruits. The fruits are not large, even, almost all of the same size. They began to sing in mid-June, for our latitudes this is just an excellent result. Delicious on the palate, suitable for early salads.I did not try them in conservation, by August the whole harvest was removed, for some reason there were no new ovaries. An excellent variety for early consumption.
