Tomato variety Early bird

Before harvesting tomatoes, you need to decide on the variety. The choice is huge - for salting or for fresh consumption, tall or standard, of various colors. The selection categories cannot be listed. But what is primarily appreciated by gardeners in tomatoes? For many, the answer is obvious - early maturity. Therefore, specialists from many companies are working on the creation of early ripening varieties, trying to bring a species close to ideal. The specialists of the Poisk agricultural holding recently presented a new tomato, which is distinguished by its ultra-early ripening, which confirms its name - Early Bird. In addition to the amicable ripening of the crop, the species is resistant to late blight. An application for registration of a novelty in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia in 2015 was submitted by Center Ogorodnik LLC. In 2017, the variety received an admission for cultivation in all regions of the country. Recommended for growing in film greenhouses and under film shelters in personal subsidiary plots. But the originators advise to grow the culture in the open field. The early bird is a hybrid.

Description

The plant belongs to the determinant varieties of the standard type. The bush is compact, only 30 - 40 cm high, which makes it much easier to care for. The stem is strong, the foliage is good. Leaves are of the usual type, short, dark green. Inflorescences of intermediate type. Fruit cluster is well filled. The peduncle is articulated.

Fruits are round, slightly ribbed. Unripe tomato is green in color, with a dark spot at the stalk. When ripe, it becomes deep red. The skin is dense, but not hard, glossy. The pulp is medium-dense, tender, juicy. The number of seed nests is from 3 to 4. The palatability, despite the early maturity, is excellent. The mass of fruits recorded by the State Register is 60 - 65 grams. The originators indicate a slightly higher weight - 75 - 90 grams.

Characteristics

  • The early bird belongs to the early ripening, even, as the creators say, the ultra-early ripening varieties. From the moment of emergence to the beginning of fruiting, only 85 - 90 days pass;
  • the yield is not bad. According to the State Register, in film greenhouses from 1 square meter, this figure was 4.7 - 4.9 kg;
  • there is no specific data on immunity. But the originators declared good resistance to major diseases. The main feature of our hero is the formation of the crop before the spread of phytophthora;
  • adaptive qualities are difficult to judge yet, but recommendations for outdoor cultivation suggest that the Early Bird is able to withstand bad weather;
  • an early ripe product is primarily consumed in its natural form, for which it is appreciated. But it is noted that tomatoes, which are small in size and dense in skin, are great for whole-fruit canning.

Agrotechnics

The good thing about this variety is that it is quite easy to grow. For seedlings, seeds are sown depending on the conditions of the region and the method of cultivation. You do not need to tie up and form a bush. The plant, in the process of development, plunges itself after the formation of the apical inflorescence. During cultivation, the standard agricultural technology for low-growing species is used.

The early bird is a perfect example of the combination of early maturity and disease resistance. The variety shows good yields regardless of the cultivation conditions. Due to its unpretentiousness and small size, the tomato can easily be experienced as a balcony culture. And belonging to varietal plants makes it possible to independently collect seeds.
