Tomato variety Rosemary (Rosamarin)
Of course, it is impossible to keep track of all the novelties on the tomato seed market. Therefore, it often happens that quite worthy varieties and hybrids simply do not fall into the field of vision of tomato growers. To somehow fill in the gaps, let's get acquainted with Rosamarin (popularly - Rosemary), which is presented in two varieties - hybrid and varietal.
Rosamarin (F1)
This is a hybrid that is a worthy representation of pink-fruited tomatoes. The appearance of a novelty in 2003 was announced by the Scientific Research Institute for the Selection of Vegetable Crops and the Agrofirma Gavrish LLC. In 2003, the variety was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia with admission in the Northern, North-Western, Volgo-Vyatka, Central, Central Black Earth, Middle Volga and North Caucasian regions. Recommended for growing under temporary shelters and in film greenhouses in garden plots, in private and small farms. Rosemary hybrid is well suited for spring-summer turnover. The seed bag is marked F1.
Description
The plant is indeterminate, tall. In the open field, the height is about 150 cm, in the greenhouse - 180 cm and more. The bush of this variety is described as powerful, the internodes are not very long, the shoot-forming ability and foliage of Rosamarin are medium. Tomato leaves are large, long-stemmed, medium-wrinkled, green in color. The inflorescence is of a simple type. The first fruit cluster appears, as in all indents, high above 10 - 11 leaves, and then forms every 3 leaves. In each brush, about 5 or more ovaries are formed, however, according to reviews, it ripens on average about 3 - 4. During the growing season, 8 - 9 brushes are formed on the plant. The peduncle is articulated.
Rosemary fruits have an excellent appearance - dense, flat-round, with a slight ribbing. The skin is thin, glossy. An unripe tomato is colored green, near the stalk there is a varietal spot of dark green color. When ripe, it acquires a rich pink hue. The pulp is tender, juicy, sugary, melting in the mouth, aromatic, the number of seeds is small. The number of seed chambers is 4 or more. The taste of the variety is noted as excellent. The pulp contains 2 times more vitamin A than ordinary tomatoes. The variety is large-fruited, which is confirmed by the State Register, according to its information, the mass of fruits ranges from 268 to 312 grams. The originator indicates an average weight of 400 grams.
Characteristics
- The Rosamarin hybrid belongs to the mid-season, ripening occurs 115 days after the emergence of full shoots. But bad weather can delay this moment by a week;
- Marketable yield of Rosemary, according to the State Register, is 9.8 - 12.4 kg per 1 square meter. Although the manufacturer claims the result is slightly lower - 8.0 - 11.0 kg per sq. meter or about 4 kg per plant;
- the variety has good immunity, as befits a hybrid plant;
- unfortunately, thin skins will not prevent tomatoes from cracking. Therefore, in greenhouses, you need to carefully monitor the humidity of the air and soil, maintaining this indicator within the normal range;
- changes in day and night temperatures negatively affect the plant as a whole, therefore, on warm days, the edge of the shelter must be raised and lowered at night;
- transportability is not very good, especially for large tomatoes, they wrinkle, the presentation is lost. Keeping is also a problem. It is advisable to immediately use the harvest of Rosamarin for food or process;
- for its intended purpose, this delicate product belongs to salad dressings, it is recommended for baby and diet food. It is also suitable for processing into tomato products - sauces, juices. But the variety is not suitable for pickling and canning.
Agrotechnics
It is recommended to grow a rosemary hybrid through seedlings. Tomato seeds are sown in the third decade of March or early April. In phase 2 - 3 of these leaves, a pick is made. Before planting in the ground, the seedlings are hardened.Planting pattern - 40 cm between bushes and 70 cm row spacing. Density - 3 pieces per 1 square meter. Try to choose a place that is as illuminated as possible, since fruiting decreases in the shade. The care is standard. In the greenhouse, the air humidity is maintained no higher than 60 - 70%, the soil should be moderately moist, without waterlogging and drying out. Water preferably with warm water. Top dressing in this case is mandatory, you can use complex fertilizers containing a balanced amount of trace elements. Indoors, it is especially important to monitor the health of plants, because even with good immunity, care flaws can provoke fungal diseases. In the southern regions it is possible to grow the variety in the open field. But in the beginning, the seedlings should still be under a film cover until they fully take root. In order for the culture to show the best result, the plant is formed into 2 stems, be sure to tie it to a trellis and stepchild.
The Rosamarin hybrid is highly valued for its good yield, strong immunity and excellent taste. But to get a good result, you have to work hard. Tomato will not reach its full potential without proper care. Among the disadvantages of Rosemary is the inability to independently collect the seed and cases of re-grading.
Pound Rosamarin
This is a varietal crop that appeared later than a hybrid brother. It is also announced by the Scientific Research Institute of Vegetable Plant Breeding and the Agrofirma Gavrish LLC. The novelty was entered into the State Register in 2008. The regions of tolerance and the cultivation method of the variety coincide with the hybrid variety.
Description
The plant is indeterminate, with long, medium-wide green leaves. Tomato fruits are flat-rounded, slightly ribbed, pink in color. The number of seed nests is 6 or more. The pulp is fleshy, juicy, excellent taste. The weight of a pound rosemary fruit is up to 400 grams, but individual specimens can grow to a kilogram size.
Characteristics
Many characteristics of the pound Rosamarin are the same as the hybrid sibling. But in terms of yield, varietal tomato is somewhat inferior - the State Register declares 7.9 kg per 1 square meter, originators - 8.0 - 9.0 kg per 1 sq. meters. The immunity of this rosemary is strong - there is resistance to the tobacco mosaic virus, cladosporium, fusarium. This fact allows you to reduce the number of treatments against diseases, which will certainly increase the environmental friendliness of products. Ripening period - 118 days after the emergence of full shoots.
Agricultural technology is similar to the one described above. Seedlings can be planted at the age of 40 - 45 days, and if the weather is warm, then tomato seedlings are transplanted under a film shelter at the end of April.
There are not many reviews about Rosamarin by the pounds, given that the variety has appeared relatively recently. But some tomato growers are quite satisfied with the taste and yield of this rosemary.
