Tomato variety Verochka (F1)
Early ripe tomatoes are a very valuable product. But for many of them, one of the main imperfections is taste. Therefore, improving the taste of an early vegetable is the main task of all breeders. The agrofirm "Poisk" coped with it perfectly well, because the new variety came to the taste of even the most demanding gourmets. The author named this successful species by the affectionate name Verochka, in honor of his second daughter. This variety has not yet been included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia. But many vegetable growers are interested in it, because this tomato can be cultivated in open and closed ground, so it is suitable for almost any region of the country. Must be marked with F1, as it belongs to hybrids.
Description
The plant is superdeterminate. Height in open ground 50 - 60 cm, in a greenhouse can grow up to 1 meter. The habit of the bush is strong, but even with good shoots and foliage, the plant looks very neat. The internodes are very short. Vera's leaves are healthy, green, of the usual type, petiolate. The length of the sheet is about 28 cm, the same size and width. The inflorescence is classic - of a simple type. The first fruit cluster appears after 6-7 leaves, and then forms every 2 leaves. During the ripening period of the crop, the plant looks quite decorative thanks to the beautiful, dense brushes, in each of which 5 strong and bright tomatoes are singing. As the tomato growers who grew the hybrid note, the fruits in the lower and upper clusters do not differ much in weight. The length of the brush is about 20 cm.
Verochka's fruits of a standard appearance are leveled (by the way, the breeders also worked on this characteristic for quite a long time), rounded (about 7 cm in height and width), smooth, dense, thick-walled, a slight ribbing can appear near the stalk. The skin is thin, but firm, glossy and shiny. The unripe fruit is light green, without a dark spot at the stalk. When ripe, it turns into a deep red color. The pulp of the variety is very fleshy, tender, juicy, with an excellent aroma. The taste is sweet, like that of real varietal crops, the taste is declared as excellent. The seed chambers are small, there are 4 - 5 of them in a tomato, there are not very many seeds. Ripe fruits weigh from 100 to 150 grams.
Characteristics
- As already mentioned, Verochka belongs to early maturing hybrids. From the moment of emergence of full shoots to the onset of maturity of the first fruits, only 85 - 90 days pass. In hot climates, the ripening process can begin in record time - after just 75 days;
- the yield of marketable products in greenhouses exceeds 15 kg per 1 square meter. According to the author himself, with good agricultural technology and normal weather conditions, 5 kg of selected fruits can be removed from one low bush;
- in greenhouses, the first tomatoes begin to ripen in the first decade of July, the bulk of the crop yields the variety in August, but in September you can still collect many ripe, tasty tomatoes;
- you can plant a crop both in protected ground and in the open. In the greenhouse, the fruiting process, of course, will begin earlier. But tomatoes grown in a garden lit by the sun will taste even sweeter;
- thanks to the strong skin, the fruits do not crack and retain their presentation;
- the popularity of culture is promoted by strong immunity. The fruits are highly resistant to top rot, and the plant itself is excellently resistant to tobacco mosaic virus and Alternaria. Due to the early ripening of the crop, Verochka is able to get away from phytophthora;
- the high resistance of tomato to unfavorable weather conditions is indicated by numerous responses. The hybrid is successfully grown in greenhouses even in the Ural region;
- the heat resistance of the variety is also noted, especially appreciated in the southern regions. Also tomatoes are resistant to active sun, which does not leave any traces on the surface of the fruit;
- ripe product withstands transportation perfectly, does not wrinkle, does not lose marketability. Keeping quality is also excellent;
- the way of use, according to the author, is universal. Delicious and healthy tomatoes will form the basis of a vitamin salad. Due to the high sugar content in the pulp, tomatoes also have excellent pickling qualities, and the average weight of the fruit is considered ideal for whole-fruit canning. Verochka's harvest can also be used for processing, obtaining high quality tomato products.
Agrotechnics
Experienced growers definitely recommend growing the variety through seedlings. It is advisable to calculate the time for sowing seeds in each region on your own. But given the possibility of cultivating a hybrid in a greenhouse, even in cool areas, sowing can be done in the first half of March. In the southern regions, this process is performed earlier - at the end of February. Seed treatment and seedling growing are carried out in the usual way. In the phase of 2 true leaves, young plants dive, 2 weeks before transplanting to a permanent place, they are hardened. The recommended density is 4 or 5 bushes per square meter. Such a scheme will increase the yield per unit area. To really enjoy the high yield, and possibly even exceed the declared indicators, you need to prepare the soil in advance. Verochka grows well in nutritious, loose, moisture- and air-conducting soils, with neutral acidity. The tomato needs timely watering, but waterlogging and drying out of the soil can play a role in reducing yields. The culture is also responsive to feeding. The ideal option is balanced mineral fertilizers, which will provide the plant with the necessary set of trace elements. Weeding and loosening are also included in the complex of agrotechnical techniques. Despite its low growth, the culture must be tied to a support, otherwise the poured fruit brushes can fill up the stem. The variety is formed in different ways. Some growers grow a hybrid of 2 to 3 stems. But a strong plant can be formed into 4 stems, in this case, the yield, of course, will increase. Moderate pinching is mandatory.
Verochka is a new and promising hybrid. Its value is not only in an early and stable harvest. Growers have appreciated the true tomato flavor and versatility of the harvested tomatoes. In addition, small bushes are much easier to care for. Despite the novelty of the variety, there are quite a lot of positive responses about it. No shortcomings have been identified. There is only one minus - it is impossible to collect seed material on your own, you will have to purchase it every season. By the way, the germination of seeds of this variety is excellent, which is confirmed by vegetable growers.
Very good tomato Verochka. Yielding. Sweet. Well, very tasty. Thanks to the producers ...
