Tomato variety Siberian troika

There are a lot of varieties of tomatoes ideal for open ground in cool regions, of course, but I especially want to highlight the Siberian Troika. There are a lot of reviews about it, but they are contradictory, although almost all agree on one thing - the taste of this tomato is simply excellent. The applicant for this variety is the Novosibirsk breeder V.N. Dederko. In 2004, a year after the application was submitted, the variety was registered in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation with admission to cultivation in all regions of Russia. Recommended for small farms, garden and backyard plots. Mostly suitable for outdoor cultivation, although indoor cultivation can be done if desired. The Siberian Troika is not a hybrid.

Description

The plant is determinate, the bush is powerful, standard type, 50 - 60 cm high. In the greenhouse, of course, the growth will be higher. The height of the tomato is self-limited by the formation of a flower inflorescence. The stem is thick, firm. The root system is quite well developed. The foliage is good. The leaves are dark green, medium in size. Yellow flowers form a simple type of inflorescence. The first fruit cluster in the variety is laid over 9 leaves, and then through 1, sometimes 2 leaves. One stem forms up to 5 - 6 racemes, each of which consists of 5 - 10 ovaries. The peduncle is articulated.

The fruits of the Siberian troika are not one-dimensional, elongated, sometimes tomatoes of various shapes can ripen on one bush - pepper-shaped, cylindrical, with a slight bend, with a spout at the top. On the very first cluster, the tomatoes are larger, up to 15 cm long, weighing almost 300 grams, the maximum weight is up to 350 grams. Basically, according to information from Internet sources, the weight is about 200 - 250 grams. According to the State Register, the mass is in the range of 80 - 100 grams. The skin is firm, but not thick, smooth, slightly shiny. At the stage of consumer ripeness, the color is deep red. The pulp is of moderate juiciness and density, seed chambers 3 - 4, the taste is excellent, sweet. The taste is assessed as excellent.

Many people confuse the described variety with a variety called Troika. These are different types, differing in the shape of tomatoes - in the latter they are round and aligned.

Characteristics

  • Siberian Troika tomatoes ripen in medium terms. From the moment of germination to the beginning of ripening, it takes from 115 days, maybe a little more, depending on the weather;
  • according to the State Register, the yield of marketable fruits is up to 6 kg per 1 square meter. Although many gardeners write that they remove up to 5 kg from one bush;
  • the variety perfectly adapts to the environment, is not afraid of temperature extremes. The harvest, according to reviews, turns out to be good in all weather conditions - in cold or rainy summers, in heat and drought;
  • the variety has good resistance to the main diseases of the nightshade, although there are mentions on the forums about the damage to the fruit by apical rot;
  • if the tomatoes are on the ground, they can rot, even those that are not yet ripe, so it is best to tie ripening brushes;
  • fruit transportability is quite high;
  • the way of using the crop is universal. Tomatoes are unusually tasty fresh, suitable for processing into tomato products, suitable for canning.

Agrotechnics

Many people write that the Siberian troika is completely lean and grows poorly. Perhaps the failure lies in improper care.

It is more convenient to grow this tomato through seedlings, especially since the seedlings grow strong, do not outgrow, and tolerate transplantation well. Sowing for seedlings is carried out in the second half of March. In southern regions, you can sow earlier.Planting to a permanent place is carried out when the seedlings are at least two months old. Despite the fact that the plant has a rather powerful habit, the bush must be tied up during the ripening of the crop, because a lot of fruits are tied, and it can fall over. Experienced tomato growers recommend growing a variety of 3 to 4 stems. Grasshopping is carried out only up to the first inflorescence, and then only the lower leaves are removed after the ripe brush has been removed. Or they carry out light pinching if necessary. You do not need to get carried away with nitrogen-containing fertilizers, otherwise the plants will increase the green mass to the detriment of the harvest.

The Siberian Troika is a very fruitful and undemanding tomato with numerous praise for its taste. A low bush is simply covered with large fruits of universal use. Good disease resistance and excellent adaptability make this species a leader among experienced gardeners. And you can collect the seed yourself.

Thanks for clearing my doubts. The fact is that my sister and I bought the seeds of these tomatoes from different suppliers, both grew luxurious bushes that were similar to each other, and the fruits turned out to be different in shape - we thought that either one of us had a re-grading, or the tomatoes are sick with something. It turns out that no - this is the norm! I am happy, because we really liked the tomatoes themselves - large, tasty, fleshy. The variety is fruitful, but, as it seems to me (there is still little experience with it), the bushes must be pinched after the third brush, pinched and removed excess leaves so that all the nutrition goes to the fruits.
