Tomato variety Yamal 200

There are varieties of tomatoes that are called "workhorses" for their simplicity and productivity. These include Yamal 200, which is often called simply Yamal. Seed bags may be sold under two names, but they are the same species. The breeder V.I. Kozak. The application for registration was submitted in March 2006, and in 2007 the variety was included in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation with admission to cultivation in all regions of Russia. The culture is recommended for open ground and film shelters in personal subsidiary plots. Not a hybrid.

Description

The plant is small, determinate type, standard. The height is only 25 - 30 cm, but not more than 50 cm. The bush limits the height independently. Weak branching. Moderate leafiness. Plants are compact, with a strong stem and short internodes. Leaves of medium size, regular shape, green or dark green, slightly wrinkled plate. The inflorescence is of a simple type. The peduncle is articulated.

Yamal fruits are flat-rounded or round, ribbing is poorly or moderately expressed. Unripe fruit is light green, ripe - deep red. The pulp is juicy, fleshy, moderately firm. The number of seed nests is 4 or more. Good taste. Some gardeners note that sweetness prevails in the taste, especially if the fruits are ripe in the sun. The average weight of tomatoes, according to the State Register of Varieties of the Russian Federation, is 90 grams. On a pack of seeds from the SeDeK company, the weight is indicated from 65 to 105 grams, the maximum is 180 grams.

Characteristics

  • Yamal 200 is early maturing. From the moment of emergence to the beginning of ripening, about 83 days pass in the southern regions, in the northern - up to 110 days;
  • the tomato yield is stable. The State Register informs about 4.6 kg per 1 square meter. According to SeDeK, in greenhouses this figure is 9 - 12 kg per 1 sq. meters. And in some video reviews, gardeners boast a 25 kilogram harvest from 1 sq. meters. If we estimate the yield from one bush, then it averages 3 - 3.5 kg. The greatest return of fruits occurs in the first decade of collection;
  • immunity of the variety is good, resistance to major diseases is high. Thanks to the early return of the crop, he safely avoids late blight. There is also a high resistance to apical and root rot;

  • stress resistance of tomato is very high, unfavorable environmental factors do not affect the growth and formation of ovaries. Cold resistance is also a valuable quality of culture;
  • transportation of fruits is easy, marketable qualities do not suffer, moreover, tomatoes have good keeping quality;
  • the way of eating fruits is universal. Tomatoes are equally well suited for fresh salads, preparing first or second courses, processed into tomato products, canned;
  • the seeds can be harvested on their own for further breeding.

Agrotechnics

Yamal 200 is interesting because it can be sown directly into the ground. The seedless method, according to SeDeK, is suitable for northern regions and areas of risky farming. But you can also grow in seedlings. For this, seeds are sown from the third decade of March to April. Seedlings are planted in the soil at the age of 50 - 55 days. If the weather has not yet settled, then for the first time the beds are covered with a film thrown over iron arcs. The planting pattern is usual - 40 cm between tomatoes in a row, row spacing - 50 cm. Recommended planting density - 7 - 9 bushes per 1 square meter. The standard plant does not need to be tied up. Passionking is not required. Some gardeners grow the variety using the collective farm method, laying the stems with a ripening crop on a straw support.Care is extremely simple, no different from typical agricultural techniques for the culture as a whole.

Yamal 200 is an unpretentious and fruitful tomato for summer residents who cannot devote every day to caring for their plantings. The variety is valued for its early and stable harvest, good taste and the versatility of tomatoes. Good adaptability and disease resistance of the plant make it possible to keep caring for it to a minimum.
