Apple variety Lingonberry
Brusnichnoe is an early autumn apple variety selected by the All-Russian Institute of Selection and Technology of Horticulture and Nursery (Moscow). The new seedling was obtained by free pollination of an unknown variety. The authorship is assigned to A. V. Petrov. The variety was accepted for state testing in 1977. Zoned in a number of areas of the northeastern zone of the Central region of Russia (Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Tver, etc.), but also promising for the southern regions. Recommended for variety testing for the Volga-Vyatka region. Close to intensive type varieties.
Trees are low-growing (natural dwarfs) and are characterized by restrained growth. The crown is medium thickened, spreading, weeping. Branches on apple trees are rather thin. Most often, fruit setting occurs on simple ringlets, as well as on spurs and spears.
Flowering occurs in an average time - 2 - 3 decade of May. Apple trees can be the best pollinators Melba and Suislepskoe.
The fruits of the lingonberry apple are medium or below average in size, the weight of the apple is on average 100 g, but in general it can be from 70 to 120 g. The shape of the fruit is oblong-rounded, slightly conical (barrel-shaped). The apples are light cream in terms of basic color, the integumentary color is very elegant and occupies more than half of the fruit surface in the form of an uneven blurred blush of a bright cherry (purple) color. The skin is smooth, thin, of medium density, oily, with a waxy bluish bloom. The subcutaneous points are medium in size, gray in color, weakly expressed and concentrated in large numbers at the apex of the fetus. The funnel is of medium depth and width. The saucer is medium in depth, folded, narrow in shape. The peduncles are rather slender, long or medium in length, with a curved shape.
The pulp is creamy in color, medium density, coarse-grained structure; juicy, medium aromatic, delicate, good sweet and sour taste (some consumers find the taste of Lingonberry slightly "rough"). Often the period of fruit ripening is somewhat extended (from late August to early September), in this case, the harvest is removed selectively in 2 - 3 doses. The potability of the variety is very low: the shelf life of fruits usually does not exceed 2 - 3 weeks (maximum 5 weeks). When ripe, apples often crumble. The purpose of the variety is universal,
The apple tree Lingonberry is high-fruited, the trees enter fruiting in the 2nd - 3rd year after planting in the garden. The crops are characterized by abundance and regularity. The frost resistance of the variety is very high. Drought tolerance and scab resistance are average.
The main advantages of this apple tree: early maturity, annual bountiful harvests, elegant fruits, convenient size of trees (natural dwarfs).
The main disadvantages include only average resistance to scab (apples are affected in rainy periods), small size of fruits and their low keeping quality.
