Apple variety Triumph (columnar)

Triumph is a popular variety of the columnar apple of the VSTISP selection with the fruits of the autumn ripening period.

Trees are semi-dwarfs (close to dwarfs) and, in the form of a slender column, reach a height of about 2 meters. The crown is characterized by compact size and small dimensions. The best trees work out on the rootstocks Mark, MM106 and 54-118.

Fruits grow to medium and large sizes (the weight of an apple usually ranges from 100 to 150 g, the largest specimens weigh up to 200 g). In shape, the fruits are one-dimensional, flat-spherical. The skin is dense, glossy. The color of the fruit is very attractive: a bright dark red striped blush over the entire surface.

The pulp is snow-white, crunchy, of fine-grained consistency, juicy, with a pronounced apple aroma and light sourness, dessert sweet taste (honey-sweet). The purpose of the fruit is universal (fresh, all types of processing).

The ripeness of the fruit falls off in mid-September. The shelf life of apples is not very high, the total storage period is approximately 1 month.

The Triumph variety is high-speed and fruitful. Apple trees bear fruit regularly from 2 to 3 years after planting in the garden on clonal dwarf and semi-dwarf rootstocks. The trees reach their full yield in the 4th - 5th year (on average, 5 - 6 kg / tree or 80 - 100 t / ha). With proper tree care, the yield indicators can actually be doubled.

Winter hardiness of this apple tree is average (at the level Melba). Resistance to major diseases and pests is high (at the level of the best standard varieties). The variety is endowed with high polygenic resistance to scab.

Recommended tree planting scheme: 4.0 × 1.2-1.5 m (on a low-growing rootstock), 5.0 × 2.0 m (on a medium-sized rootstock).

The advantages of the Triumph apple tree are as follows: beautiful, very large fruits with a dessert taste, compact trees, early maturity, productivity, complete immunity to scab.

Disadvantages: average winter hardiness (in the conditions of Central Russia).
