Honeysuckle variety Sibiryachka
Sibiryachka is a variety of early maturing honeysuckle. Bred by employees of the Bakchar stronghold of northern gardening (village Bakchar, Tomsk region). Obtained as a result of crossing in 1972 the selected form 1−55−39 Kamchatka Honeysuckle (Lonicera kamtschatica) with selected forms (pollen mixture) Turchaninov Honeysuckle (Lonicera turczaninovii). Introduced into the state register of varieties of the Russian Federation in 2000. Approved for use in all regions of Russia. Authors: N.V. Savinkova, I.K. Gidzyuk, A.T. Tkacheva.
Bushes are medium spreading, medium height (about 160 cm). The crown is hemispherical, of medium density. The skeletal branches are brownish-brown, of medium thickness, the delamination of the bark is medium, the lateral branches are directed widely to the sides. Shoots are slightly pubescent, medium, curved, glabrous, light green color (young - red), with a hanging top, at the beginning of summer with an intense anthocyanin strip on the sunny side, the direction of shoot growth is close to horizontal. The apical bud has an oval shape, the axillary buds are directed obliquely in relation to the shoot. Leaves are medium in size, oval in shape, with a blunt-pointed tip, with a rounded or heart-shaped base; the leaf blade is light green, flat, slightly pubescent on both sides. Petioles are short, thin. Stipules are medium, semicircular, most often folded downward or perpendicular to the shoot. Inflorescences are reduced, two-flowered. The flowers are pale yellow in color, medium in size. Corolla is tubular-funnel-shaped, 18 mm long. The petals are semi-closed. Bracts subulate.
The fruits of Sibiryachka honeysuckle are large, sweet, fragrant, dark purple with a slight waxy bloom, weighing 1.1 - 1.4 grams, 2 - 2.5 cm long. The shape of the fruit is fusiform or elongated-drop-shaped, slightly curved. The pulp is juicy, tender. The peduncle is of medium length.
Trees begin to bear fruit in the second - third year after planting in the garden. The fruiting type is at the base of an annual branch. Fruit ripening is simultaneous, the collection is carried out once. The attachment of fruit stems to the stalk is good, the separation of the berries is dry, the berries are easily separated. Natural crumbling of berries during ripening is insignificant, manifests itself with a moisture deficit during the period of filling and ripening of berries.
In the first year of fruiting, the yield is 500 grams per bush or 1.7 t / ha (with a planting pattern of 3 × 1 m). At the age of ten, the yield reaches 3.7 kg per bush or 8 t / ha. The maximum yield per 14-year-old plants is 4.5 kg per bush or 15 t / ha. The average yield for 11 years of fruiting is 10 t / ha.
Sibiryachka is characterized by very high winter hardiness (in the conditions of the Tomsk region it can withstand winter temperatures up to minus 50 ° C without damage), resistance to spring frosts, drought, diseases and pests.
This honeysuckle is self-fertile. For its pollination, you should purchase any of the varieties or hybrids of Altai, Turchaninov or Kamchatka honeysuckle, blooming at the same time. The best pollinators are Tomichka, Narymskaya and Pamyati Gidzyuk varieties.
Taste qualities are very high (tasting evaluation of fresh fruits - 4.9 points, tasting evaluation of processed products - 5 points). The chemical composition of the fruits is as follows: sugars 8.2%, acids 1.9%, vitamin C 32 mg /%.
The variety is universal: berries can be used both fresh and for making jams, compotes, juice, preserves, mashed mass.
Advantages of Sibiryachka honeysuckle: early maturity, annual stable fruiting, high yield, large-fruited, excellent taste properties of berries, frost resistance.
Disadvantages: only average transportability (fruits crumple when overripe), thin skin of berries, slight shedding of fruits, curved branches make it difficult to harvest.
