Apple variety Calvil snow

Several of these apple trees grow in my garden. They are fruitful, bearing fruit almost every year. In especially fruitful years, or in dry years, the fruits become smaller. They are usually medium in size.

For us, Kalvil Snezhny is the main variety from which we squeeze juice for the winter. The apples are very juicy and sweet. And what is important, high-quality juice is obtained from them, even if they are not yet fully ripe. The grains are still white, the fruits are small, completely firm, and the juice is quite normal and not sour. True, the yield is less than that of mature ones. And from ripe apples, the juice is delicious and sweet. More than seven liters of juice is obtained from a 10 liter bucket of crushed apple mass.

I also like that Calvil has a smooth skin and a green fruit. When ripe, they turn yellow. Hypoallergenic. The disadvantage is that the skin is quite hard. Not the best option for baking, as it produces a lot of juice. But by the New Year, the juiciness is much reduced. Better not to keep Calvil too long. Optimally - until January, maximum - until February. The further, the more its dining value decreases.

    I have the opportunity to compare Snow Calvil of different generations. In the country, a young tree (8 years old). In the courtyard of the house is an old one, planted in the late 80s. Comparison in favor of the old, still bears fruit abundantly, despite the diseased trunk. The aroma of the old variety is brighter, richer. The young has the only plus - the fruits have a beautiful presentation.
